Abstract

Labor pain is a significant challenge for expectant mothers, affecting both the psychological and physiological aspects of pregnant woman. Non-pharmacological pain management approaches, such as aromatherapy, have gained attention for their effectiveness and minimal side effects. This study aimed to assess the impact of bitter orange aromatherapy on reducing labor pain during the first stage of labor at Inpatient Clinic Pratama Ibu Hawa in 2024. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test measures was employed, involving 22 multigravida women in active labor. The intervention group received bitter orange aromatherapy via a diffuser for 60 minutes, while the control group received standard care. Pain intensity was measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The results indicated a significant reduction in pain intensity after the intervention, with a notable shift from moderate to mild pain in the experimental group (p = 0.000, 95% CI = (5.098-8.876). These findings suggest that bitter orange aromatherapy is an effective non-pharmacological intervention for reducing labor pain, improving maternal comfort, and enhancing the overall labor experience. The study highlights the potential for integrating aromatherapy into routine maternal care, offering an accessible and cost-effective alternative to pharmacological methods. Further research is needed to explore its broader application and long-term benefits in various clinical settings.

Abstract

The low utilization of innovative learning media and limited teacher understanding of the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) approach have contributed to students’ low learning outcomes in ecosystem material. This study aimed to determine the effect of ESD-integrated gamification learning media on the biology learning outcomes of tenth-grade students at MA Ma’arif NU Kencong in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study used a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental Design through a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 students selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through multiple-choice pretest and posttest on biogeochemical cycle material. Data analysis used the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, homogeneity test, and paired sample t-test assisted by IBM SPSS version 31. The results showed that the data were normally distributed with significance values of 0.204 for the pretest and 0.795 for the posttest, and had homogeneous variance with a significance value of 0.522. The paired sample t-test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05 with a mean difference of -4.90, indicating a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of ESD-integrated gamification learning media. Therefore, it can be concluded that ESD-integrated gamification learning media significantly affect students’ biology learning outcomes on ecosystem material.

Abstract

Ethnoveterinary is a traditional livestock treatment practice that represents local wisdom and needs to be documented to preserve indigenous knowledge sustainability. This study aimed to identify medicinal plants used in ethnoveterinary practices, describe cattle treatment techniques, analyze the Use Value (UV) and Informant Consensus Factor (ICF), and validate an interactive e-booklet as a learning medium for Biodiversity materials in Grade X Senior High School. This research employed a qualitative approach with an ethnographic method through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results identified 24 species of medicinal plants used by the community of Andongrejo Village, with the Zingiberaceae family and rhizomes being the most dominant. Six processing methods were found, with polyherbal formulations becoming a distinctive local treatment practice. UV analysis showed that 11 species had the highest value (UV=1), while diarrhea had the highest ICF value (0.93). The interactive e-booklet achieved a very valid category from media experts (93.00%) and material experts (88.6%), indicating its feasibility as a local wisdom-based learning medium.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Outdoor Learning model based on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) on students' science process skills in biodiversity learning at MA Wahid Hasyim Balung. The study was motivated by the low level of students' science process skills due to the dominance of conventional teaching methods and the underutilization of the surrounding environment as a learning resource. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of an experimental class that received Outdoor Learning based on ESD and a control class that received conventional instruction. Data were collected through observation, tests, interviews, and documentation and analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Mann–Whitney test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the implementation of the learning model was categorized as very good, with an implementation percentage of 87%. The Mann–Whitney test produced an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant effect of the Outdoor Learning model based on ESD on students' science process skills. Furthermore, the average N-Gain score of the experimental class (87.09) was higher than that of the control class (72.00). Therefore, it can be concluded that the Outdoor Learning model based on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is more effective than conventional learning in improving students' science process skills in biodiversity learning.
