Abstract

Stunting is a major public health issue with long-term consequences for physical growth, cognitive development, and future productivity. The “TUMBUH JOSS” door to door program was conducted in the Jetis Public Health Center area on November 14, 2025, to improve family knowledge and nutritional practices among 17 stunted children. The activity began with team coordination, preparation of anthropometric tools, and collection of baseline data. Interventions included structured interviews, anthropometric measurements, home environment assessments, and personalized education on nutrition and infection prevention. Follow-up monitoring was carried out through the local health post. The program demonstrated increased parental understanding of feeding practices, household hygiene, selection of protein-rich foods, and stimulation for child development. The intervention successfully enhanced family engagement and supported behavioral changes toward healthier practices. This personalized home-visit approach proved effective in supporting stunting prevention and management at the household level.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus and hypertension are non-communicable diseases with a high prevalence among the elderly and are major causes of morbidity and mortality. Low levels of awareness and adherence to a healthy lifestyle further exacerbate these conditions. The CERDIK Elderly Program (Preventing Diabetes and Hypertension through a Healthy Lifestyle) is a simple and effective educational approach to increase elderly awareness regarding chronic disease prevention. Objective: To determine the improvement in PROLANIS participants’ knowledge regarding the prevention of diabetes and hypertension through CERDIK education. Methods: The educational activity was conducted on November 14, 2025, using leaflet media. Knowledge assessment was carried out using a questionnaire consisting of 10 questions administered before and after the counseling session to 50 elderly participants. Results: The average pre-test score of 72 increased to 89 in the post-test, indicating a 23.6% improvement in knowledge. Participants showed high enthusiasm during the educational session. Conclusion: CERDIK education was proven effective in increasing knowledge related to the prevention of diabetes and hypertension among the elderly group.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an acute infectious disease that remains a public health problem in Indonesia, particularly in tropical areas with high population density. Community-based prevention efforts through health education are essential to reduce the incidence of DHF. This community service activity aimed to improve knowledge, awareness, and preventive behaviors regarding DHF through health education for residents of Kenjoro Hamlet, Pesanggrahan Village, Mojokerto Regency. The target participants were mothers or parents of children aged 0–5 years and the elderly, who are vulnerable groups to DHF infection and complications. The method used was participatory health education employing booklet media, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The material covered the definition, risk factors, transmission, signs and symptoms, management, and prevention of DHF through the Mosquito Breeding Site Eradication Program (PSN) 3M Plus. The activity was conducted on February 13, 2026, with 26 participants. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in knowledge, indicated by the proportion of correct answers rising from 50% in the pre-test to 95% in the post-test. In addition, several environmental risk factors were identified, such as stagnant water, uncovered water storage containers, and discarded items that could serve as mosquito breeding sites. In conclusion, health education effectively improved community knowledge and awareness regarding DHF prevention and encouraged the adoption of clean and healthy living behaviors through the 3M Plus program. Similar activities need to be conducted continuously with support from community health centers, village authorities, and active community participation to reduce the risk of DHF transmission.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disease and remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, particularly among the elderly population. Community-based preventive efforts through health education are essential to reduce the incidence and complications of T2DM. This community service activity aimed to improve knowledge, awareness, and preventive behavior regarding T2DM through health education among elderly residents in Windurejo Village, Mojokerto Regency. The target participants were elderly individuals who are at high risk for T2DM and its complications. The method used was participatory health education employing booklet media, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The material covered the definition, risk factors, signs and symptoms, management, prevention strategies, and diabetic foot exercise. The activity was conducted on February 27, 2026, with 30 participants. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in knowledge, indicated by the proportion of correct answers rising from 55% in the pre-test to 93% in the post-test. Several modifiable risk factors were identified, including high sugar intake, low physical activity, obesity, and family history of diabetes. In conclusion, health education effectively improved elderly knowledge and awareness regarding T2DM prevention and encouraged healthy lifestyle practices. Continuous community-based education programs are recommended to support sustainable diabetes control efforts.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in the elderly is a significant public health issue due to the risk of complications and decreased quality of life resulting from physiological changes and inappropriate nutritional intake. In the Mojosari Community Health Center area, the level of understanding and compliance of the elderly toward medical nutrition therapy is often still low. Objective: This activity aimed to increase the knowledge, awareness, and ability of the elderly and their families to manage DM nutritional diets independently and sustainably. Methods: The counseling was conducted on February 13, 2026, at the Mojosari Community Health Center, involving 25 participants (elderly and caregivers). The intervention method utilized face-to-face education, audio-visual presentations, and the distribution of leaflets focusing on the 3J diet principles (Schedule, Amount, Type). Evaluation was performed using pre-test and post-test instruments. Results: There was a significant increase in knowledge, marked by a rise in the average score from 57 to 88. Furthermore, the number of participants in the "Good" knowledge category increased from 16% to 80% following the intervention. Conclusion: This counseling activity was effective in improving participants' health literacy regarding DM diet management and complication prevention in the geriatric population.
