Abstract

Nowadays the use of biological control agents is often carried out as part of integrated agriculture that is sustainable and environmentally good. One biological control agent that has recently been reported to be able to protect plants from diseases is endophytic fungus. Dayak onion is a medicinal plant in South Kalimantan as a host of endophytic fungi that have the potential as biological agents. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the potential of endophytic fungus from dayak onion flowers in controlling fusarium wilt disease in red onion plants, its inhibitory ability with Aspergillus flavus and screening of secondary metabolites from its culture extracts. The research method used in vitro inhibition tests against A. flavus, the incidence of fusarium wilt disease in red onion plants applied endophytic fungi from dayak onion flower Fusarium solani EnI in greenhouses and phytochemical screening of endophytic cultures. The study used a one-factor Complete Randomized Design. Observation parameters include the incidence of fusarium wilt disease, plant height, and dried weight of plant. The data was then carried out ANNOVA one-way and Duncan Multiple (DMRT) test. The results showed that the endophytic of Fusarium solani EnI has increased plant resistance to fusarium wilt attack as shown by increasing plant growth from plant height parameters and plant wet weight in the treatment of fungi endophyte. This is due to the ability of endophytes that contain terpenoid metabolite compounds that are antimicrobial. Endophytic fungi F. solani EnI can also inhibit the growth of A. flavus through in vitro inhibition tests with 50-68% inhibitory power in variations of growth media.
