Abstract

This study examines the strategic development of marine tourism events through an integrated analytical and planning framework at Minang Rua Beach, Kelawi Tourism Village, South Lampung. Employing a descriptive qualitative design, the research synthesises field observations and semi-structured interviews, along with SWOT and GAP analyses, to evaluate destination readiness and identify critical determinants shaping event feasibility. The findings reveal that Minang Rua Beach benefits from strong accessibility, diverse natural and cultural assets, active community support, and the presence of indigenous knowledge systems. Nevertheless, several structural constraints persist, including limited engagement from governmental and private-sector stakeholders, suboptimal management of tourism attractions, and inadequate development of cultural arts and MSME branding. The GAP assessment indicates an overall readiness level of 87.5%, reflecting a generally favourable baseline with a measurable scope for improvement. Drawing on Goldblatt’s five-phase event planning model—research, design, planning, coordination, and evaluation—the study proposes a contextually grounded event development framework that emphasises enhancing destination quality, cultural revitalisation, human capital empowerment, and MSME advancement. Conceptually, this research contributes to the growing body of literature on event-based coastal tourism by demonstrating how strategic analytical tools can be operationalised within community-based governance structures to strengthen sustainable marine tourism development.

Abstract

Minang Rua Beach in South Lampung possesses significant tourism potential that has not been optimally utilized, primarily due to the lack of creative promotional events and limited community skills in event management. This community service aimed to enhance the capacity of the local Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) and youth in designing, managing, and promoting tourism events effectively. The method employed was a participatory training approach that included lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice covering creative event design, logistics management, budgeting (RAB), and digital promotion strategies. The training activities were met with high enthusiasm and active participation from the community members. The participants gained new, practical knowledge and skills in event planning and promotion, as demonstrated by their active engagement during interactive sessions and simulations. The improved capacity of the local community is expected to foster the independent and sustainable organization of creative events, thereby enhancing the destination's attractiveness and increasing tourist visits. Abstract

Kemampuan berbicara di depan umum merupakan kompetensi penting bagi dosen, karena mendukung kualitas pengajaran dan kemampuan mereka dalam memimpin kegiatan akademik dan institusional. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara di depan umum para dosen guna meningkatkan kualitas pengajaran dan profesionalisme dalam komunikasi akademik. Program ini dilaksanakan melalui pendekatan pelatihan partisipatif selama dua hari, yang menggabungkan kuliah, diskusi, praktik langsung, dan simulasi. Peserta terdiri dari 34 dosen dari empat lembaga pendidikan tinggi di Lampung, yaitu Politeknik Negeri Lampung, Universitas Lampung, Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA), dan UIN Raden Intan Lampung. Materi pelatihan mencakup kepercayaan diri, teknik vokal, artikulasi, gerak tubuh, intonasi, komunikasi persuasif, bercerita, dan manajemen panggung. Efektivitas program dievaluasi menggunakan tes pra dan pasca, observasi langsung, dan kuesioner kepuasan peserta. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta tentang teknik berbicara di depan umum, dengan 19 dari 30 peserta (63,3%) mengalami peningkatan skor tes pasca. Hasil kuesioner menunjukkan tingkat kepuasan peserta yang tinggi terkait relevansi materi, kualitas penyaji, dan fasilitas pendukung. Observasi selama sesi latihan juga menunjukkan peningkatan kepercayaan diri, kontrol vokal yang lebih baik, dan keterlibatan audiens yang lebih efektif. Program pelatihan ini secara efektif meningkatkan kompetensi berbicara di depan umum para dosen dan mendukung pengembangan keterampilan komunikasi profesional dalam pengajaran dan acara akademik. Durasi pelatihan yang terbatas dan variasi tingkat keterampilan awal peserta membatasi kedalaman penyampaian materi dan praktik individual. Program ini berkontribusi untuk memperkuat profesionalisme dosen, meningkatkan kualitas pengajaran, dan mendorong kolaborasi antar universitas melalui pelatihan berbicara di depan umum yang terstruktur.
