Abstract

Kata kunci: komodifikasi, realisme kapitalis, skizoanalisis, Body without Organ

Abstract

This Community Service program focuses on improving the English public speaking skills of teachers at Yayasan Pendidikan Al-Chasanah in Jakarta through a workshop incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. Conducted on December 13, 2025, the workshop involved 16 teachers from junior and senior high school levels. The training utilized a Micro-Learning and Immediate Feedback approach, consisting of five stages: a pre-training video, theory introduction, SpeechAce technology demonstration, performance practice, and self-assessment with SpeechAce. The PkM team gathered data from video recordings, AI scores from SpeechAce, and a CEFR-based speaking analysis. Results showed that all 16 participants completed performance recordings, overcoming psychological barriers to public speaking in English. Video analysis indicated a range of abilities from A1-A2 to B2-C1, with most participants at the B1 level. This program highlights the effectiveness of AI technology as a self-training tool for teachers looking to enhance their English communication skills. Abstract

The representation of marginalized groups, particularly women and Black communities, has long been a central concern in social and cultural studies. This study examines the intersectionality of racial and gender discrimination experienced by Black women as depicted in The Six Triple Eight (2024), directed by Tyler Perry. Using a qualitative descriptive method within an interpretative film analysis framework, the research investigates how intersecting identities, specifically race, gender, and class; are constructed and represented through the film’s narrative and character development. Drawing on Kimberlé Crenshaw’s theory of intersectionality, the analysis focuses on selected scenes, dialogues, and character interactions involving members of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only all-Black, all-female military unit deployed overseas during World War II. The findings reveal key themes, including layered racial and gender discrimination, the resilience of Black women in confronting oppressive systems, collective solidarity among unit members, and the historical invisibility of their contributions. Furthermore, the study demonstrates how the film contributes to broader discussions on intersectional identity and the representation of marginalized groups. Overall, the findings suggest that The Six Triple Eight not only brings attention to the historically overlooked role of Black women in military history but also functions as a cinematic medium for reclaiming and preserving historical memory.

Abstract

This article examines how race and gender intersect to shape the lived experiences of African American women in Hidden Figures (2016), focusing on the strategies of negotiation and resistance employed within institutional constraints. Using qualitative textual analysis, this study applies Kimberlé Crenshaw’s Intersectionality Theory as the primary analytical framework, highlighting how systemic discrimination operates through organizational structures, social norms, and cultural expectations. The findings reveal that the female protagonists exercise agency through professional competence, intellectual problem-solving, and collective solidarity, which allow them to challenge exclusionary practices and assert visibility in a historically segregated workplace. By emphasizing the dynamics of negotiation and resistance, this study contributes to feminist, race, and cultural studies, demonstrating how intersectionality can illuminate both oppression and the strategies marginalized women employ to navigate and contest structural inequalities.

Abstract

In this research paper, the representation of gender performativity in Hurricane Bianca (2016) film will be analyzed from the point of view of how drag helps construct and resist identities in an institutional context dominated by heteronormativity. Through qualitative textual and visual analysis, Judith Butler’s concepts of gender performativity, citationality and iterability will be applied to examine how drag serves as both an arena for constructing gendered identities and a form of resistance to the institutional power of heteronormativity. Findings indicate that the gender identity of the drag queen Bianca Del Rio is neither essential nor fixed since it is created through multiple performative acts such as dressing, speaking, gesturing and naming oneself that cannot be explained by means of an essentialist concept of gender. Her resistance is performed through citationality, professionalism and taking up spaces in an institution, which allows her to deconstruct the heteronormative power that had previously excluded her and create a new definition of her position in the school's organizational structure. The current research paper reveals that Hurricane Bianca operates as a cultural text that uses drag as a political resistance act while pointing out the fragility of heteronormative conventions and their dependency on constant repetition

Abstract

This research analyzes the dynamic of power relations depicted in The Starling Girl (2023) through the lens Power Relations theory by Michel Foucault. This research aimed to identify how discourse, disciplinary power, pastoral power, panopticon and resistance operates as a foundational control mechanism and shaping Jemima’s subjectivity within Christian Conservative Community. The result of the study describes five mechanisms of power relation in the film that are operated in the religious communities that constructed the main character’s subjectivity from the obedient girl becoming a sinner and forgiven subject until resistant subject.
