Abstract

This study analyzes the educational significance of the Dalian Na Tolu tradition as a form of local wisdom in fostering youth character in Mandailing Natal. As a socio-cultural system that structures the relationships between mora (wife givers), kahanggi (patrilineal relatives), and anak boru (wife receivers), this tradition is transmitted across generations through customary practices and daily social interactions. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, participant observation, and document analysis in four villages: Panyabungan Julu, Tolang, Pagur, and Simpang Tolang. The findings reveal that Dalian Na Tolu plays a strategic role in instilling core character values such as respect, compassion, solidarity, mutual cooperation, and deliberation, which align with modern character education principles and Islamic teachings. Revitalization efforts are carried out through collaboration between traditional and religious leaders, youth activities under Naposo Nauli Bulung, cultural training, and daily practice. The study recommends integrating Dalian Na Tolu values into formal and non-formal education, as well as utilizing digital media to strengthen youth character development in the era of globalization.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the process of internalizing the values of monotheism through understanding the attributes of Allah SWT in the learning of Aqidah Akhlak in madrasas. The phenomenon of weakening divine awareness and moral crisis among students shows that the learning of Aqidah Akhlak is still dominant in the cognitive aspect and has not touched the affective and spiritual realms. Therefore, an approach is needed that is able to instill the values of monotheism comprehensively through a correct understanding of the attributes of Allah SWT. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a library research method. Data sources consist of primary literature in the form of the Qur'an, hadith, and classical aqidah books, as well as secondary sources from contemporary books and journals on Islamic education. Data analysis techniques are carried out using content analysis and conceptual interpretation to explore the relationship between theological concepts and the practice of values education. The results of the study indicate that understanding the obligatory, impossible, and jaiz attributes of Allah SWT plays a significant role in shaping students' awareness of monotheism. The process of internalizing monotheistic values occurs through three main stages: value transformation, value transaction, and value transinternalization. This study contributes to the development of an integrative, reflective, and contextual monotheistic-based Aqidah Akhlak learning model to address the challenges of modern Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the meaning and urgency of the ethics (adab) of reciting the Qur'an and supplication (du'a) in an effort to cultivate individual and social piety among Muslims. Reciting the Qur'an and praying are not merely ritualistic activities but also serve as instruments for spiritual education that foster awareness, proximity, and submission to Allah SWT. The ethics within these two practices serve as a vital foundation to ensure that worship does not lose its ethical and spiritual essence. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach through the study of classical and contemporary Islamic literature, this paper explores the theological, psychological, and social dimensions of Qur'anic recitation and supplication. The findings indicate that the ethics of reciting the Qur'an such as maintaining purity, tartil (measured recitation), and tadabbur (reflection) cultivate inner peace and enhance the understanding of Islamic teachings. Meanwhile, ethics in supplication such as sincerity, humility (khusyu'), and modesty strengthen the individual's spiritual relationship with God and foster empathy toward others. Consequently, the understanding and application of ethics in reciting the Qur'an and supplication not only implicate personal piety but also impact the formation of social behaviors that are harmonious, polite, and civilized. This study reinforces that the internalization of ethical values in religious life is a strategic step toward building a Muslim society that is characterized by integrity, morality, and a focus on divine values.
