Abstract

School environments are vulnerable to emergency incidents such as falls, bleeding, fractures, burns, and choking. Delays in providing first aid often occur because students lack adequate knowledge and skills to perform initial emergency management. Scout members are expected to become the first responders in schools; however, not all of them have received structured First Aid training. This study aimed to analyze the effect of First Aid training on the knowledge of Scout members regarding daily emergency management at MA Negeri 1 Serang. This study employed a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest with control group approach. A total of 60 Scout members participated and were divided into intervention and control groups. Data were collected using a 35-item knowledge questionnaire with a Guttman scale. The Wilcoxon test was used to analyze changes within groups, while the Mann-Whitney test compared posttest scores between groups. The intervention group experienced a statistically significant improvement in knowledge after receiving First Aid training (p<0.001), whereas no significant improvement was observed in the control group. Furthermore, posttest knowledge scores in the intervention group were significantly higher than those in the control group. First Aid training effectively improves the knowledge of Scout members regarding daily emergency management. Therefore, integrating First Aid training into Scout extracurricular activities is recommended to strengthen emergency preparedness in schools.

Data were collected using the self-care management questionnaire and the Diabetes Quality of Life (DQOL) questionnaire and were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 27 respondents (57.4%) had good self-care management and 20 respondents (42.6%) had poor self-care management. A total of 19 respondents (40.4%) had good quality of life, while 28 respondents (59.6%) had poor quality of life. The bivariate analysis yielded a p-value of 0.001 with an OR of 15.300. The statistical test results showed a significant relationship between self-care management and quality of life among patients with Type 2 DM. Patients with good self-care management had a 15.300 fold greater likelihood of having a good quality of life than patients with poor self-care management. Community health centers are expected to improve education on self-care management to help enhance patients' quality of life.

Abstract

Hypertension remains a serious health problem in Indonesia with a high prevalence, especially among the productive age group. Its treatment is not only done pharmacologically, but also through non-pharmacological therapies such as hydrotherapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of hydrotherapy soaking warm water feet with salt on reducing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers in the working area of the Jawilan Community Health Center, Serang Regency in 2025. The research design used a quantitative method with a Quasi-experimental pretest-posttest with a control group. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling, with a total of 36 respondents divided into intervention and control groups. The results showed that blood pressure in the intervention group decreased from 150/92 mmHg to 136/82 mmHg, while in the control group from 147/88 mmHg to 141/84 mmHg. Statistical tests using Paired Sample T-test and Independent Sample T-test showed a significant decrease in blood pressure in the intervention and control groups (p <0.05) so Ha was accepted Ho was rejected. In conclusion, hydrotherapy, involving warm water and salt foot soaks, significantly reduced blood pressure. This study recommends that hydrotherapy be used as an alternative non-pharmacological therapy recommended by healthcare professionals and independently implemented by hypertension sufferers.
