Abstract

Objective: This study aims to identify and analyze the implementation strategy of the character education curriculum at SMK Muhammadiyah Mayong to prevent juvenile delinquency. The primary focus is to understand the effectiveness of the character education curriculum approach in shaping positive student behavior, particularly in preventing deviant actions. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework of this study is based on principles of character education, integrating Islamic values and theories of behavior formation through habituation and learning. Literature Review: The literature review explores character education concepts grounded in religious values in vocational school contexts, the role of teachers as role models, and the effectiveness of mentoring programs in preventing juvenile delinquency. Methods: The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection methods include direct observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and the principal, and documentation related to the curriculum and the implementation of character education programs. Data analysis was conducted descriptively using thematic analysis techniques to identify patterns and key themes in character education strategies. Results: The findings reveal that SMK Muhammadiyah Mayong employs specific strategies in its character education curriculum, including the integration of Islamic values into learning activities, strengthening the role of teachers as role models, and special guidance programs for students at risk of delinquency. These programs include religious activities such as routine recitations, moral value studies in subjects, and fostering discipline and responsibility through extracurricular activities. Implications: The implications of this study indicate that consistently applying Islamic values in character education can be an effective preventive measure against juvenile delinquency. These findings provide practical recommendations for other Muhammadiyah schools to develop similar programs and for education policymakers to design effective curricula for shaping students’ character. Novelty: The uniqueness (novelty) of this study lies in its in-depth analysis of how Muhammadiyah values, particularly Islamic principles, are integrated into the character education curriculum within a vocational school context. This research makes a significant contribution to the character education literature by providing new perspectives on applying religious values to prevent juvenile delinquency.

Abstract

This research aims to explore and develop interactive and relevant Islamic religious learning methods for Generation Z in the digital era. Generation Z has unique characteristics, such as a high tendency towards technology, a practical and visual learning style, and the need to get information instantly. Given these needs, conventional learning approaches are considered less effective in attracting their interest in exploring Islam. This study uses a qualitative research method with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observations, and literature studies related to digital learning methods and religious teaching. Participants in this study include students, Islamic teachers, and experts in the field of digital education. The results of the study show that technology-based interactive methods, such as learning apps, educational short videos, interactive quizzes, and discussions on social media platforms, can increase the interest and engagement of Generation Z in learning Islam. The use of digital media not only makes the learning process more interesting but also helps students understand religious concepts in a more applicable and relevant way to daily life. In addition, the application of gamification, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) in Islamic religious learning shows great potential to enhance immersive and contextual learning experiences. The implications of this study are the need for the integration of digital technology in the Islamic religious learning curriculum, as well as training for educators so that they can use interactive methods effectively. The novelty of this study lies in a holistic approach that combines digital interactive methods with religious learning, which has not been widely applied in the context of Islamic education. This research is expected to be a reference for educators and curriculum developers in creating Islamic religious learning strategies that are more adaptive, interactive, and able to answer the unique needs and characteristics of Generation Z.

Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework is grounded in the concept of multicultural education, emphasizing the importance of recognizing diversity and fostering mutual respect in educational environments. Literature Review: A review of the literature supports this approach, highlighting the role of education in building social cohesion in pluralistic societies. Methods: The research methods included in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data were collected from Christian students, teachers, and parents to provide a holistic understanding of the dynamics of multicultural learning in the school. Results: The findings reveal that Christian students at SMA Muhammadiyah Mayong experience an inclusive learning environment where religious and cultural differences are appreciated. Positive interfaith interactions contribute to fostering tolerance and mutual respect among students. Additionally, the teaching process prioritizes universal values, such as justice and humanity, as fundamental principles. However, challenges such as stereotypes and prejudices occasionally arise. Abstract

Objective: This study aims to explore the implementation of prophetic leadership by dormitory managers at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Kudus (UMKU), analyze the various challenges faced in its implementation, and evaluate its impact on the formation of student character, morals, and spirituality. Theoretical framework: This research is based on prophetic leadership theory that is rooted in prophetic values of humanization, liberation, and transcendence, and is connected to the concept of servant leadership that emphasizes service and exemplary leadership. Literature review: This study includes a study of prophetic leadership, character development theories in a dormitory education environment, as well as various previous studies on the influence of leadership on the spiritual and moral development of students. Methods: This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, then analyzed using a thematic approach to find relevant patterns. Results: The results show that more than 80% of students recognize the significant role of dormitory leaders in shaping their worship habits and character, although formal coaching related to prophetic values is still not optimal. The challenges faced in the implementation of prophetic leadership include limited conceptual understanding among managers, lack of formal training, and the lack of integration of prophetic coaching in the overall dormitory management system. Implications: This study emphasizes the importance of periodic training for dormitory managers and strengthening the prophetic value-based character development curriculum as a strategic step to increase the effectiveness of coaching in the UMKU dormitory environment. Novelty: this research lies in the systematic integration of the concept of prophetic leadership with the principle of servant leadership in the context of dormitory education, as well as in a comprehensive evaluation of the challenges and real impact of prophetic leadership on the formation of Islamic and academically superior student character.

Abstract

Objective:  This study aims to critically evaluate the application of Islamic integrative epistemology in the Computer Science Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Kudus, focusing on the extent to which Islamic values are internalized in the curriculum, teaching methods, and academic culture. Theoretical framework:  This study uses the Islamic integrative epistemological framework as an effort to answer epistemological concerns that arise due to the dominance of dichotomous and positivistic paradigms, especially in non-religious disciplines such as Computer Science. This epistemology seeks to harmonize Islamic science and general science in a coherent set of values. Literature review: The literature review includes a discussion of epistemological crises in modern higher education, technocratic tendencies in the development of exact science, and the concept of scientific integration in an Islamic perspective. Emphasis is also placed on the importance of instilling moral and spiritual values in learning in Islamic universities. Methods: This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The data collection technique was carried out through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation analysis of academic activities within the Computer Science Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Kudus. Results:  The results of the study show that efforts to integrate Islamic values in the development of Computer Science are still symbolic and fragmented. The main obstacles stem from the low epistemological awareness among academics and the strong dominance of technocratic approaches. Nevertheless, there are promising integration opportunities in courses such as Professional Ethics and Islamic Religious Education, which can be developed through a reflective and transdisciplinary pedagogical approach. Implications:  A reformulation of value-based curriculum, improved epistemological literacy, and cross-disciplinary synergy are needed to encourage more substantial scientific integration in Islamic universities. Novelty:  This study presents a new perspective on the application of Islamic epistemology in Computer Science, with an emphasis on the deep integration of values to form graduates who are both technological and have Islamic character.
