Abstract

This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze high school students’ conceptual understanding of Two-Variable Linear Inequality (PtLDV) problems. Conceptual understanding constitutes a core component of mathematical proficiency. Three students were selected through purposive sampling based on their problem-solving abilities. Data were collected using written tests, interviews, and documentation. The instruments were designed to measure three indicators of conceptual understanding: (1) the ability to restate concepts, (2) the capacity to present concepts through multiple mathematical representations, and (3) the ability to apply concepts or algorithms in problem-solving contexts. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that two students demonstrated a high level of conceptual understanding, meeting all indicators, whereas one student exhibited a low level of understanding, particularly in relation to problem context and mathematical modeling. These results underscore the need to design adaptive learning strategies to support students with conceptual gaps and suggest that future studies using mixed-methods designs may yield deeper insights into this issue.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the quality of objective test items used in summative assessments for mathematics based on classical test theory. This study will examine the aspects of difficulty, discriminative power, and the effectiveness of distractor options. The method used in this study is a descriptive quantitative approach involving 57 students from classes VIII A1 and VIII B as participants. The data used in this study were taken from 25 multiple-choice items on the summative assessment for the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, which were then analyzed using Microsoft Excel. The analysis results showed that the majority of items (56%) fell into the “moderate difficulty” category, while 40% were categorized as easy and 4% as difficult. In terms of discriminative power, 56% of the items fell into the “good to very good” category; meanwhile, 16% of the items were found to have low discriminative power. The effectiveness of distractors indicated that 70.67% of distractors functioned effectively, and 80% of the exam questions had good to very good distractor quality. Overall, this assessment tool is of good quality; however, some questions need to be revised to ensure more accurate and appropriate measurement of student skills.”

Abstract

This study aims to develop a flipbook-assisted e-LKPD based on the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach on social arithmetic material to facilitate the mathematical literacy skills of seventh-grade junior high school students. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4-D development model, which consists of the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. However, this study was limited to the develop stage because the research focused on the process of designing, validating, and revising the product to produce teaching materials that are feasible for use based on expert assessments. The research subjects consisted of two expert validators, namely a media expert and a material expert, as well as three seventh-grade junior high school students in a small-scale trial to determine the readability, clarity of content, and ease of use of the e-LKPD before it is implemented on a wider scale. The research instruments included media expert validation questionnaires, material expert validation questionnaires, and student response questionnaires using a Likert scale. The data analysis technique used descriptive quantitative analysis by calculating the percentage of product validity and practicality results. The results showed that the flipbook-assisted e-LKPD based on RME obtained a media expert validation percentage of 90.6% with a “very valid” category and a material expert validation percentage of 88.5% with a “very valid” category. In addition, the practicality test result obtained a percentage of 77.7% with a “practical” category. Student learning outcomes also showed an average score of 83.6 in the “good” category. Therefore, the flipbook-assisted e-LKPD based on RME is considered valid, practical, and feasible to be used as digital teaching material to support mathematics learning and has the potential to facilitate students’ mathematical literacy skills in social arithmetic material.
