Abstract

The Legal Documentation and Information Network Library (JDIH) of Lampung Province faced challenges in managing legal document classification manually, which often resulted in inefficiency and errors. The library began implementing the 23rd edition of the Electronic Dewey Decimal Classification (e-DDC) system in May 2023 to address this issue. This study aims to examine the implementation of e-DDC in improving the efficiency of document classification in the library. A qualitative research approach was employed using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with four library staff members and six users, supported by observations and documentation. The findings reveal that the implementation of e-DDC positively impacted collection management, including faster classification processes, improved accuracy, and effective integration with the library management system (SLiMS). Users also reported easier access to and retrieval of legal materials. However, several obstacles were identified, such as the initial lack of understanding among staff, limited technological infrastructure, challenges in transitioning from a manual to a digital system, and insufficient user orientation regarding the e-DDC system. Key findings indicate that successful implementation is supported by adequate staff training, strong managerial support, and the availability of appropriate technological tools. On the other hand, additional strategies are needed, such as providing user guidance and improving technological infrastructure. In conclusion, the 23rd edition of e-DDC has proven effective in enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of legal information, although continuous improvements are required to optimize its use.

Abstract

The library at State Senior High School 1 Bandar Surabaya has a floor area of 150 square meters and features areas such as book shelves, reading tables, and a visitor registration desk, as well as a computer lab located near the library. In general, the library’s floor area meets national library standards. However, the collection size still falls short of the minimum standard 360 titles compared to the required minimum of 1,000 titles with a student population of 287. This study aims to analyze the use of the library as a learning space in developing a culture of literacy among students at SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Surabaya. This study used a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the library has been utilized as a source of information, a place for independent and group study, and a space for student literacy activities. This utilization is supported by the library's comfortable physical condition and the role of teachers in guiding students to utilize the library in the learning process. However, the research findings also indicate that library utilization remains at a functional stage, namely as a provider of learning resources and activity space, and has not yet fully developed into a literacy space that encourages critical thinking and in-depth information processing. Furthermore, limited technological facilities and policies restricting device use create a paradox: the library serves as a primary source of book-based literacy, but is not yet optimal in supporting students' digital literacy. Theoretically, this study contributes to strengthening the understanding that library utilization as a learning space is a process that depends not only on the availability of facilities, but also on the integration of physical space, learning activities, social interactions, and structured pedagogical support. These findings point to the development of a gradual model for school library utilization, moving from its basic function as an information provider to a more integrative role as an active and contextual literacy learning space. Thus, this research has implications for strengthening school-based literacy ecosystems by optimizing the library's role as a center for learning and developing students' literacy culture.

Abstract

The transition of local government archive governance from manual to digital is a mandate of the Electronic-Based Government System Policy (SPBE). The Pringsewu Regency Library and Archives Office faces real challenges in manual archive management, in the form of limited archive storage space, poor storage space, and high operational costs of physical maintenance. This study aims to evaluate the use of the application in overcoming obstacles at each stage of manual archive management, as well as measuring the success rate of its implementation based on ANRI Regulation Number 4 of 2021. Using a qualitative method with a descriptive-evaluative approach, research data was collected through semi-structured interviews with 4 informants, observations, and documentation validated through technical triangulation. The results showed that SRIKANDI successfully overcame the challenge of manual archives at the creation stage through Electronic Signatures (TTE), the use stage through instant metadata search, and the maintenance stage with PDN-based digital storage. The final evaluation of the system recorded a success rate of 70% (Quite Good). The Organizational Dimension (Score 0.80) ran optimally thanks to the strong support of the leadership. However, the Technology dimension (Score 0.70) was hampered by system response delays due to server and internet disruptions, while the HR dimension (Score 0.60) was the lowest point because agencies had never depreciated using SRIKANDI and users had not participated in special training on digital archive depreciation.

Abstract

- Along with the rapid development of digital technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the most widely used tools by university students in supporting their academic activities, particularly in thesis completion. This study aims to determine the effect of AI utilization on the optimization of thesis completion among students of the Library and Islamic Information Science study program, Faculty of Adab, UIN Raden Intan Lampung. This research employed a quantitative method with a total sampling technique, involving 70 students from the class of 2022 as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using validity and reliability tests, normality and linearity tests, simple linear regression tests, partial t-tests, and R² tests. The results showed that t-count (9,447) > t-table ( 1,99547) with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, and the coefficient of determination (R²) of 56,8%. These findings indicate that AI utilization has a positive and significant statistical effect on the optimization of thesis completion. The findings imply that academic libraries and supervisors should promote critical and ethical AI use through information literacy programs, helping students evaluate AI-generated content and maintain academic integrity throughout the thesis process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze promotional strategies on Instagram at the Bank Indonesia Regional Office Library in Lampung Province based on the stages of promotional strategy outlined by Stuart and Moran. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a field research approach. Data were collected over a two-month period through structured interviews with a librarian responsible for managing the @perpusbilampung Instagram account, non-participant observation of promotional activities on the @perpusbilampung Instagram account, and documentation. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the library has identified its target audience through visitation data, user interactions, and Instagram Insights, and has implemented segmentation based on age, status, and reading interests. The promotional objectives are aimed at increasing awareness of the library, introducing its services and collections, and expanding its user base. Instagram was chosen as the primary promotional platform because of its wide reach and features such as the feed, Stories, Reels, collaborative posts, and geotags, which were utilized to disseminate information and increase user engagement. The effectiveness of the promotion was evaluated by monitoring Instagram Insights data and audience responses to published content. The findings showed an increase in the number of Instagram followers from 7,467 to 7,571 during the study period. Additionally, one Reels video themed “Favorite Libraries in Bandar Lampung” garnered approximately 236,000 views and hundreds of comments. However, the utilization of audience data and promotional evaluation has not yet been conducted systematically and continuously; consequently, the use of analytical data as a basis for promotional decision-making remains suboptimal.
