Abstract

Students’ understanding of Natural and Social Science (IPAS) concepts at the elementary school level remains relatively low due to learning processes that do not actively engage students and the limited use of varied instructional media. Learning activities that are dominated by the lecture method tend to make students passive and struggle to connect the material with real-life experiences. This condition results in low learning outcomes in the IPAS subject at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 2 Pringsewu. This study was designed to address the issue of how significantly the Team Quiz learning method assisted by puzzle media influences the improvement of students’ conceptual understanding of IPAS.The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the Team Quiz method assisted by puzzle media in enhancing students’ ability to understand IPAS concepts through cooperative, competitive, and enjoyable learning activities. The research employed a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental design of the Nonequivalent Control Group Design type. The subjects of the study involved two classes, namely class VA as the experimental group and class VB as the control group, with a total sample of 65 students. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments and analyzed using the t-test with SPSS 29 software. The results showed that there was a significant influence of the Team Quiz method assisted by puzzle media on students’ conceptual understanding of IPAS. Based on the t-test results using SPSS 29, the significance value obtained was 0.000 < 0.05, with the average posttest score of the experimental class (84.32) being higher than that of the control class (73.14). This finding proves that the Team Quiz method assisted by puzzle media is effective in improving the conceptual understanding of IPAS among fifth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 2 Pringsewu.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the essential competencies that students need to develop in mathematics learning. However, based on preliminary observations conducted at MIN 4 OKU Timur, students' critical thinking skills were still relatively low due to their limited involvement in the learning process. This study aimed to determine the effect of the differentiated learning model on the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students in mathematics at MIN 4 OKU Timur. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a Posttest-Only Control Design. The sample consisted of 49 students, including 26 students in the experimental class and 23 students in the control class. Data were collected through essay tests designed to measure students' critical thinking skills. The data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing through the Independent Samples t-Test. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was 71.08, which was higher than that of the control class, namely 60.48. Furthermore, the hypothesis test yielded a significance value of 0.013, which was lower than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the differentiated learning model has a significant effect on students' critical thinking skills in mathematics learning among fourth-grade students at MIN 4 OKU Timur.

Abstract

This study advances Islamic educational leadership theory by examining the integration of spirituality, ethics, and innovation as a holistic leadership model in Islamic secondary education. Using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, the research was conducted at MAN 1 Bandar Lampung. Quantitative data were collected from 120 teachers and staff to measure leadership practices across spiritual, ethical, and innovative dimensions. Regression analysis showed that spirituality and ethics were the strongest predictors of leadership effectiveness, while innovation, although positively perceived, had a relatively weaker influence. To deepen these findings, qualitative data were obtained through semi-structured interviews, complemented by document analysis. Thematic analysis revealed that leadership practices are strongly rooted in spiritual awareness, moral integrity, and participatory decision-making, reflecting fundamental Islamic values. Innovation was mainly evident in instructional practices, such as blended learning and the use of digital platforms, but was less integrated into administrative and organizational leadership. Identified challenges included limited technological infrastructure, uneven digital literacy, and resistance to organizational change. This study proposes a holistic and transferable framework of Islamic educational leadership in which spirituality provides moral orientation, ethics ensures accountability and justice, and innovation supports adaptive responses to contemporary challenges. The findings contribute to leadership theory by highlighting that transformational change in Islamic educational settings is primarily guided by spiritual and ethical accountability rather than managerial efficiency alone, offering valuable insights for leadership development and policy formulation in Islamic education beyond the local context.
