Abstract

Lemuru fish oil (Sardinella lemuru) is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids and has potential as a feed supplement for poultry due to its unsaturated fat content, which supports metabolism and immune function. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of adding lemuru fish oil to the feed on the physical carcass composition of Joper chickens (Jowo Super). The study was conducted over two months at the Sesetan Farm, Denpasar, using a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and five replications. The treatments included P0 (control), P1 (2% oil), P2 (4% oil), and P3 (6% oil). Observed parameters were slaughter weight, carcass weight, and the percentages of carcass, meat, bone, and fat. The results showed that 2% and 4% lemuru fish oil significantly increased slaughter and carcass weights (P<0.05) compared to the control, while the 6% level caused a decrease. The highest fat percentage was found in P2, but meat, bone, and carcass percentages showed no significant differences among treatments (P>0.05). It can be concluded that 4% lemuru fish oil in the feed improves slaughter weight, carcass weight, and carcass fat percentage without affecting meat and bone composition. ABSTRAK Minyak ikan lemuru sebagai salah satu sumber asam lemak omega-3 merupakan bahan pakan tambahan yang potensial, karena memiliki kandungan lemak tak jenuh yang bermanfaat bagi metabolisme dan sistem kekebalan tubuh ayam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penggunaan minyak ikan lemuru (Sardinella lemuru) dalam pakan terhadap komposisi fisik karkas ayam kampung Joper (Jowo Super). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL), di mana ayam kampung Joper dibagi ke dalam 20 kandang, dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan, setiap petak kandang disi 5 ekor ayam kampung jopper yang dilaksanakan di Farm Sesetan, Denpasar Bali selama 2 bulan. Perlakuan yang diberikan P0 tanpa menggunakan minyak ikan lemuru, P1 dengan menggunakan 2% minyak ikan lemuru, P2 dengan menggunakan 4% minyak ikan lemuru, dan P3 dengan menggunakan 6% minyak ikan lemuru. Parameter yang diamati meliputi bobot karkas, bobot potong, persentase karkas, persentase daging, persentase tulang dan persentase daging. Penggunaan minyak ikan dalam pakan ayam joper pada perlakuan P1, P2 dan P3 menghasilkan berat potong, berat karkas dan persentase lemak karkas lebih tinggi (P<0,05) daripada P0 (kontrol). Persentase karkas, persentase daging, dan tulang pada perlakuan P1,P2, P3 tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) dibandingkan P0. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan minyak ikan lemuru 4% dalam pakan ayam joper dapat meningkatkan berat potong dan berat kaskas, dan persentase lemak karkas namun tidak berpengaruh pada persentase daging dan tulang karkas.

Abstract

Efforts to accelerate the growth of native chickens aim to shorten the rearing period. Livestock practitioners in the country have innovated by crossbreeding native chickens or other superior local breeds with commercial laying hens (layers), resulting in “ayam kampung super” (in Javanese: ayam kampung jowo super/joper) whose growth rate is faster than that of ordinary native chickens. One of the poultry feed ingredients with usable energy content is fish oil. This study aimed to determine the effect of using lemuru fish oil in feed on the performance of joper chickens. The research was conducted at the Sesetan Farm, Faculty of Animal Science, Denpasar, Bali, for a period of two months. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments, five replications, and each replication consisted of four chickens. The treatments given were: joper chickens fed a diet without fish oil (P0), joper chickens fed a diet containing 2% fish oil (P1), joper chickens fed a diet containing 4% fish oil (P2), and joper chickens fed a diet containing 6% fish oil (P3). The observed variables included initial body weight, final body weight, total feed intake, body weight gain, and Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR). The results showed that the variables of final body weight and body weight gain were significantly affected; chickens fed diets containing fish oil had higher final weights and weight gains compared to those without fish oil. Meanwhile, the use of fish oil had no significant effect (P>0.05) on initial body weight, feed intake, and Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR). Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that adding 2% - 4% lemuru fish oil to the diet can improve the performance of joper chickens, particularly in terms of final body weight and weight gain. ABSTRAK Usaha mempercepat pertumbuhan ayam kampung, sehingga waktu pemeliharaan menjadi lebih cepat, praktisi peternakan di dalam negeri berinovasi kawin silang antara ayam kampung atau ayam lokal unggulan lainnya dengan ayam ras petelur (layer) sehingga dihasilkan ayam kampung super (Jawa : ayam kampung jowo super/joper) yang pertumbuhannya lebih cepat dibandingkan ayam kampung biasa. Salah satu pakan unggas yang memiliki kandungan energi yang dapat digunakan adalah minyak ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan minyak ikan lemuru dalam pakan terhadap performa ayam kampung joper yang dilaksanakan di Farm Sesetan, Fakultas Peternakan, Denpasar, Bali selama 2 bulan. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan, 5 ulangan dan masing – masing ulangan terdiri dari 4 ekor ayam. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah ayam joper yang diberi ransum tanpa menggunakan minyak ikan (P0), ayam joper yang diberi pakan menggunakan 2% minyak ikan (P1), ayam joper yang diberi pakan menggunakan 4% minyak ikan (P2), ayam joper yang diberi pakan menggunakan 6% minyak ikan (P3). Variabel yang diamati meliputi berat badan awal, berat badan akhir, jumlah konsumsi ransum, pertambahan berat badan, dan Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR). Hasil penelitian pada variabel bobot badan akhir dan pertambahan bobot badan menunjukan hasil yang signifikan, ayam yang diberikan pakan yang menggunakan minyak ikan lebih tinggi daripada tanpa menggunakan minyak ikan. Sedangkan pada variabel bobot badan awal, konsumsi ransum dan Feed Convension Ratio (FCR) penggunaan minyak ikan pada pakan tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan ayam joper yang diberi minyak ikan lemuru 2% - 4% pada ransum mampu meningkatkan performa (bobot akhir dan pertambahan bobot badan).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving dragon fruit peel extract and ciplukan extract through drinking water on the external offal of male Balinese ducks. This research was conducted at Sesetan Farm, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, located at Jalan Raya Sesetan, Denpasar, Bali for 5 weeks. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replicates and each replicate contained 5 one-week-old ducks. The treatments given are, P1: Giving drinking water without dragon fruit peel extract and ciplukan extract, P2: Giving drinking water with 5% dragon fruit peel extract, P3: Giving drinking water with 5% ciplukan extract, P4: Giving drinking water with a mixture of 2.5% ciplukan extract and 2.5% dragon fruit peel extract, P5: Giving drinking water with a mixture of 5% ciplukan extract and 5% dragon fruit peel extract. The variables observed were the percentage of head, neck, legs, blood, and fur. The results showed that the provision of dragon fruit peel extract and ciplukan did not have a significant effect (P>0.05) on the percentage of external offal (head, neck, legs, blood and feathers) of male Balinese ducks aged 6 weeksThe results of the study showed that the administration of 5% dragon fruit peel extract, 5% ciplukan, a mixture of dragon fruit peel and ciplukan extracts each 2.5%, and a mixture of dragon fruit peel extract and ciplukan 5% each did not have a significant effect (P>0.05) on the percentage of external offal (head, neck, feet, blood and feathers) of 6 week old male Bali ducks.. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Farm Sesetan, Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Udayana, yang berlokasi di Jalan Raya Sesetan, Denpasar, Bali selama 5 minggu. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan dan setiap ulangan berisi 5 ekor itik berumur satu minggu. Adapun perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu, P1: Pemberian air minum tanpa ekstrak kulit buah naga dan ekstrak ciplukan, P2 : Pemberian air minum dengan 5% ekstrak kulit buah naga, P3 : Pemberian air minum dengan 5% ekstrak ciplukan, P4 : Pemberian air minum dengan campuran 2,5% ekstrak ciplukan dan 2,5% ekstrak kulit buah naga, P5 : Pemberian air minum dengan campuran 5% ekstrak ciplukan dan 5% ekstrak kulit buah naga. Variabel yang diamati adalah persentase kepala, leher, kaki, darah, dan bulu. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemberian ekstrak kulit buah naga 5%, ciplukan 5%, campuran ekstrak kulit buah naga dan ciplukan masing-masing 2,5%, dan campuran ekstrak kulit buah naga dan ciplukan masing-masing 5% tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata (P>0,05) terhadap persentase offal eksternal (kepala, leher, kaki, darah dan bulu) itik bali jantan umur 6 minggu. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak kulit buah naga 5%, ekstrak ciplukan 5%, campuran ekstrak kulit buah naga dan ciplukan masing-masing 2,5%, dan campuran ekstrak kulit buah naga dan ciplukan masing-masing 5% melalui air minum tidak berpengaruh terhadap persentase offal eksternal itik bali jantan umur 6 minggu.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of lemuru fish oil (Sardinella lemuru) in the ration mixture can affect abdominal fat in joper chickens. This study was conducted for 8 weeks at the Teaching Farm of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, using 80 unsexed joper chickens of DOC age divided into 20 experimental cages. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 additional treatments of lemuru fish oil (0%, 2%, 4%, and 6%) in the ration, each repeated 5 times. The ration consisted of yellow corn, rice bran, fish meal, lemuru fish oil, bread waste, mineral mix, and table salt. The variables observed included slaughter weight, percentage of pad fat, percentage of mesenteric fat, percentage of ventricular fat and percentage of abdominal fat. The results of the study showed that the use of lemuru fish oil in joper chicken feed had a significant effect (P<0.05) on slaughter weight but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the percentage of pad fat, mesenteric, ventricular and abdominal. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the use of lemuru fish oil in feed has not been able to significantly reduce the percentage of pad, mesentery, ventricle and abdominal fat in joper chickens, but has a significant in increasing the slaughter weight of joper chickens at a level of 4% (P2). ABSTRAK Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan minyak ikan lemuru (Sardinella lemuru) dalam campuran ransum dapat mempengaruhi lemak abdominal pada ayam joper. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama 8 minggu di Teaching Farm Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Udayana, menggunakan 80 ekor ayam joper unsexed umur DOC yang dibagi dalam 20 kandang percobaan. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan tambahan minyak ikan lemuru (0%, 2%, 4%, dan 6%) dalam ransum, masing-masing diulang 5 kali. Ransum terdiri dari jagung kuning, dedak padi, tepung ikan, minyak ikan lemuru, limbah roti, mineral mix, dan garam dapur. Variabel yang diamati meliputi bobot potong, persentase lemak bantalan, persentase lemak mesentrium, persentase lemak ventrikulus dan persentase lemak abdominal. Hasil penelitian penggunaan minyak ikan lemuru dalam pakan ayam joper berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap bobot potong, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap persentase lemak bantalan, mesentirum, ventrikulus dan abdominal. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan minyak ikan lemuru dalam pakan belum mampu menurunkan persentase lemak bantalan, lemak mesentrium, lemak ventrikulus dan lemak abdominal ayam joper, tetapi meningkatkan bobot potong ayam joper pada level pemberian 4% (P2).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of commercial ration substitution with shellfish shell flour and fish oil on the percentage of broiler carcass pieces. This research was carried out at Farm Sesetan, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University which is located on Jalan Raya Sesetan, Denpasar, and lasted for 35 days. The design used was a Complete Random Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replicas, each replica consisting of 4 one-day-old broilers. The treatment consisted of P0 (feed without the addition of shellfish meal and fish oil), P1 (feed with an additional 1% shellfish meal and 0.5% fish oil), P2 (feed with an additional 1% shellfish meal and 1% fish oil), and P3 (feed with an additional 1% shellfish meal and 1.5% fish oil). The variables observed included slaughter weight, the percentage of the carcass, and the percentage of pieces of the broiler carcass, namely the breast, upper thighs, drum stick, wings, and back. The data was analyzed using analysis of variance and if there were significant differences it was followed by the Duncan test. The results showed that the combination of shellfish shell flour and fish oil had a significantly effect (P<0.05) on the slaughter weight, but no significantly (P>0.05) on the percentage of carcasses and other commercial pieces. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the combination of 1% shellfish flour and 1% fish oil could increase sloughter weight of the broiler but not effect on the percentage of carcass pieces. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh substitusi ransum komersial dengan tepung kulit kerang dan minyak ikan terhadap persentase potongan karkas broiler. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Farm Sesetan, Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Udayana yang berlokasi di Jalan Raya Sesetan, Denpasar, dan berlangsung selama 35 hari. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan, masing-masing ulangan terdiri dari 4 ekor broiler berumur satu hari. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu, P0 (pakan tanpa penambahan tepung kulit kerang dan minyak ikan), P1 (pakan dengan tambahan 1% tepung kulit kerang dan 0,5% minyak ikan), P2 (pakan dengan tambahan 1% tepung kulit kerang dan 1% minyak ikan), dan P3 (pakan dengan tambahan 1% tepung kulit kerang dan 1,5% minyak ikan). Variabel yang diamati meliputi bobot potong, persentase karkas, serta persentase potongan karkas broiler yaitu dada, paha atas, paha bawah, sayap, dan punggung. Data dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam dan jika terdapat perbedaan yang nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kombinasi tepung kulit kerang dan minyak ikan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap bobot potong, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap persentase karkas dan potongan komersial lainnya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa pemberian kombinasi 1% tepung kulit kerang dan 1% minyak ikan dapat meningkatkan bobot potong broiler tanpa mengubah persentase potongan karkas secara signifikan.
