Abstract

Marine debris is a material wasted intentionally or unintentionally into coastal and marine environment caused by human activities. Trash has become one of the biggest contributors to coastal and marine pollution that may disrupt the balance of aquatic ecosystem, reduce the aesthetic value of coastal and marine areas, and even disturb human health. This research was conducted to provide information regarding type, weight, and source of trash found around western coastal area of Ampenan Beach, Mataram City. Sampling spots which represented a condition of study area were determined using purposive sampling. Two research locations were chosen around Ampenan Beach, namely Penghulu Agung Beach and estuary of Jangkok River. Trash collection was done done using line transect method based on criteria determined from length of the coastline. The trash collected was then sorted, weighed, and identified based on trash classification system. Marine trash found around the research locations, both at Penghulu Agung Beach (Stasion 1) and at estuary of Jangkok River (Station 2), was dominated by plastics with an average number of trash pieces, respectively, of 7 item/m2 and 9 items/m2. Meanwhile, the weights of plastic trash found at station 1 and 2, respectively, were 29,76 gr/m2 and 213 gr/m2. The amount of plastic trash found at research locations might be the impact of human activities throwing the trash into the estuary and the beach.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Secara rinci penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mendeskripsikan pola distribusi dan alokasi waktu kerja, pola produksi dan pola konsumsi rumahtangga nelayan; 2) menguji pengaruh faktor determinan terhadap ketahanan pangan rumahtangga nelayan. Penelitian ini menngunakan metode deskriptif dan didesain dalam bentuk survey. Daerah penelitian adalah Kecamatan Pujut Kabupaten Lombok Tengah. Dari 11 desa pesisir yang ada dipilih 1 desa yang berada di Kecamatan Pujut yaitu desa Sengkol. Penetapan desa tersebut secara sengaja berdasarkan daerah pesisir yang potensial untuk pengembangan rumput laut. Selanjutnya dilakukan pendataan terhadap rumahtangga nelayan. Rumahtangga nelayan yang menjadi sampel penelitian dipilih secara random sampling sebanyak 30 rumahtangga nelayan. Data yang telah dikumpulkan kemudian diklasifikasikan untuk dianalisis lebih lanjut: 1) Untuk mengetahui pola distribusi dan alokasi waktu kerja, pola produksi (pendapatan) dan pola konsumsi (pengeluaran) rumahtangga dianalisis secara deskriptif. 2) Untuk mengestimasi pengaruh variabel-variabel bebas terhadap ketahanan pangan rumahtangga nelayan dianalisis dengan regresi logit Terbatas pada data dasar yang telah digunakan dalam pembahasan hasil penelitian ini, maka dapat disimpulkan hal-hal sebagai berikut: Pola distribusi waktu kerja Rumahtangga nelayan dimanfaatkan untuk kegiatan-kegiatan antara lain untuk mencari ikan di laut, bekerja sebagai pedagang, bekerja sebagai buruh atau jasa. Rata-rata waktu kerja yang dicurahkan selama satu tahun sebesar 1.348 jam atau 192,57 hari 3,69 jam per-hari Pola distribusi pendapatan rumahtangga nelayan bersumber dari kegiatan sebagai nelayan yaitu mencari ikan dilaut, dan kegiatan dari luar nelayan seperti berdagang , buruh atau jasa. Rata-rata pendapatan rumahtangga nelayan selama satu tahun sebesar Rp 212.533,33 Pola distribusi pengeluaran rumahtangga nelayan terbagi dalam pengeluaran untuk pangan dan non pangan. Rata-rata pengeluaran rumahtangga nelayan selama satu tahun sebesar Rp 663.700,00 Faktor penentu ketahanan pangan rumahtangga nelayan adalah pendapatan rumahtangga nelayan ABSTRACT In detail, this study aims to: 1) describe patterns of distribution and allocation of working time, patterns of production and consumption patterns of households of fishermen; 2) to test the effect of the determining factors of the household food security of fishermen. This research uses descriptive method and is designed in the form of survey. The study area is from 11 coastal villages there been one village in Sub Pujut ie Sengkol village. Determination of the village is deliberately based on coastal areas of potential for the development of seaweed. Households fishermen into the sample were selected by random sampling of 30 households of fishermen. The data have been collected and then classified for further analysis: 1) To determine the pattern of distribution and allocation of working time, patterns of production (income) and the pattern of consumption (expenditure) of households were analyzed descriptively. 2) To estimate the influence of the independent variables on household food security of fishermen analyzed by logit regression. The study concluded the following: 1) The distribution pattern of working time used for activities Household fishermen catch fish in the sea, as a trader, as labor or services. The average working time devoted during the year totaling 1,348 hours or days 192.57 3.69 hours per day. 2) The pattern of the distribution of household income derived from the activities of fishermen looking for fish in the sea, and trade, labor or services. The average household income of fishermen during the year amounted to Rp24.212.533,33. 3) The distribution pattern of household expenditure fishermen divided into expenditure on food and non-food. Abstract

Hubungan timbal balik yang terjadi antara hutan mangrove dan kegiatan budidaya ikan selayaknya mengharuskan para pembudidaya ikan untuk tetap menjaga sinergi keduanya tidak terganggu. Namun demikian, tidak semua pembudidaya ikan mengetahui akan hal ini, sering kali pembukaan lahan budidaya dilakukan dengan mengurangi kepadatan vegetasi mangrove secara drastis, tanpa diikuti oleh proses penanaman kembali. Hal ini juga terjadi pada salah satu daerah hutan mangrove di Nusa Tenggara Barat, yaitu di Dusun Cemare Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Lahan budidaya dibuka tanpa adanya usaha untuk menjaga agar vegetasi mangrove tetap dalam proporsi yang seimbang. Mempertimbangkan begitu besarnya peran mangrove secara ekologi menyebabkan harus segera dilakukan kegiatan penanaman kembali pada habitat mangrove yang telah rusak. Kegiatan ini akan dilaksanakan dengan melibatkan dosen, mahasiswa, dan kelompok pengelola setempat. Hasil pengabdian adalah telah tertanamnya bibit pohon mangrove di area terdampak, serta terjalinnya kerjasama dengan kelompok pengelola sumberdaya setempat untuk pemantauan pohon mangrove yang telah ditanam.

Abstract

Pantai Dondon, Desa Mertak merupakan salah satu kawasan yang masuk dalam kawasan Teluk Bumbang dan Teluk Awang yang dikenal sebagai salah satu pusat kawasan penangkapan lobster di Pulau Lombok. Larangan penangkapan lobster yang diatur dalam Peraturan Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan Nomor 56 tahun 2016 telah menyebabkan hilangnya mata pencaharian utama masyarakat di Desa ini. Hal ini mendorong untuk diciptakannya mata pencaharian alternatif bagi masyarakat. Kegiatan ini bertujuan agar kelompok masyarakat Desa Mertak memperoleh keterampilan snorkeling dan pengamatan ekosistem bawah laut sebagai modal dalam upaya peningkatan perekonomian melalui kegiatan ekowisata bahari. Kegiatan pengabdian ini diikuti oleh 15 peserta yang merupakan gabungan masyarakat setempat dan anggota karang taruna Desa Mertak. Metode kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah penyuluhan, pelatihan, pendampingan, dan pemberian bantuan peralatan snorkelling. Kegiatan diawali dengan penyampaian materi dan diikuti dengan diskusi. Banyak permasalahan serta harapan yang disampaikan oleh para peserta terkait dengan pengembangan ekowisata di pantai Dondon. Selanjutnya, dilakukan kegiatan pengamatan ekosistem bawah laut yang merupakan kegiatan penerapan teori atau materi yang telah disampaikan sebelumnya dan memberikan gambaran bahwa kawasan ini memerlukan rehabilitasi terumbu karang. Masyarakat juga diberikan bantuan peralatan set snorkeling, pengenalan fungsi peralatan tersebut, serta teknik snorkeling yang baik dan benar. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat dimanfaatkan secara maksimal oleh peserta kegiatan sehingga dapat menjadi alternatif dalam meningkatkan taraf kehidupan perekonomian

Abstract

Today's mangrove ecosystem is increasingly under pressure, mainly due to the conversion of mangrove land into aquaculture, tourism, and industrial areas. At the same time, the mangrove ecosystem has a very vital role in life. Efforts have been made to slow down the degradation rate of the mangrove ecosystem, including by replanting activities (reforestation). Mangrove planting activities are often constrained by the lack of healthy seeds or a mismatch between the seeds and the planting environment. It causes the planted mangrove seedlings not to be able to grow appropriately and even die. This community service activity aims to educate and assist the community in Poton Bako Hamlet, Jerowaru Village, Jerowaru District, East Lombok Regency regarding mangrove nursery techniques, especially R. mucronata and S. alba species, properly and correctly. The method used is using booklet media and direct practical assistance. Moreover, the community listens and practices what has been conveyed regarding nursery procedures. The results of this activity received high enthusiasm from the community, and the community felt its usefulness. This mentoring activity requires follow-up in the form of continuous control and assistance so that future nursery programs carried out independently by the community can continue and run optimally. In the future, it is hoped that the community's independence to carry out mangrove nurseries can run well. Thus what has been obtained by the community can be transmitted to others so that mangrove conservation is maintained.

Abstract

Research on the effect of garlic extract (allium sativum) to treat tilapia (oreochromis niloticus) seeds which are infected with aeromonas hydrophila bacteria. This research was conducted for 14 days from 18 December to 31 December 2019 which took place at the Wet Laboratory of the Aquaculture Study Program, Mataram University, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with an experimental method consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications. The container used in this study was a 15 liter jar with a volume of 10 liters. The containers used are 15 units, where in treatment one (P1) using without soaking garlic extract and without being infected with Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria, treatment two (P2) without soaking garlic extract and being infected with Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria, (P3) using soaking onion extract white with a concentration of 1% and infected with Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria, (P4) using garlic extract immersion with a concentration of 1.5% and infected with Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria, (P5) using garlic extract immersion with a concentration of 2% and infected with Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria. The parameters observed during the study included survival rate (SR), relative percent survival (RPS), observation of clinical symptoms, and water quality. The results showed that giving garlic extract with different concentrations had a significantly different effect on survival rates and relative percent survival (RPS).

Abstract

MAS disease (Motile Aeromonas Septicemia) is a disease caused by A. hydrophila bacteria that attack tilapia and other freshwater fish species. The use of antibotics and chemicals in the continuous prevention and treatment of this disease can damage the aquatic environment and can cause bacterial resistance to antibotics, so antibotic use becomes ineffective. The study used a Complete RandomIzed Design (RAL) with an experimental method consisting of 5 treatments and 3 repeats. Treatment in this study is (P1) without soaking garlic extract and without infected bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila, (P2) without soaking garlic extract and infected bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila, (P3) soaking garlic extract with a concentration of 1% and disinfection of bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila, (P4) immersion of garlic extract with a concentration of 1.5% and infected bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila, (P5) soaked garlic extract with a concentration of 2% and infected with Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria. The results showed that the SR value of tilapia fish in each treatment had values ranging from 0.0% to 66.7%. Relative percent survival (RPS) tilapia seeds in each treatment have values ranging from 0.0% to 66.7%. The conclusion of this study is that giving garlic extract with different concentrations has a real different influence on survival rates and relative percent survival (RPS).
