Abstract

This study aims to develop Islamic Cultural History (SKI) teaching materials based on Student Worksheets (LKS) and Mind Mapping for the Wali Songo topic and to examine their effectiveness in improving sixth-grade students’ understanding at MINU An Nur Purworejo. The research problem is students’ low comprehension of Wali Songo and limited engaging learning media. Using a simplified Borg & Gall R&D model, the study involved planning, product development, limited trials, revisions, and effectiveness evaluation. Thirty sixth-grade students participated in a one-group pretest-posttest design. Instruments included questionnaires, classroom observations, and concept comprehension tests. Results show a significant increase in average comprehension scores from 58.7 to 82.4. Observations and interviews reveal higher engagement, motivation, and systematic Mind Mapping skills. Findings confirm that integrating LKS and Mind Mapping enhances cognitive understanding, critical thinking, and information organization. The study contributes a practical, replicable teaching material model for elementary schools and highlights the importance of visual and interactive media to strengthen students’ understanding of Islamic cultural history.

Abstract

This study examines the strengthening of gender education at MI NU An Nur Purworejo, focusing on students’ and teachers’ understanding, teaching practices, and the madrasa culture that supports gender equality. The research background indicates that although gender education regulations exist, gender stereotypes still appear, such as leadership roles being more frequently assigned to male students. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with 32 fourth- and fifth-grade students and four teachers as subjects, using data collection techniques including questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and classroom observations. Data analysis was conducted thematically and through triangulation. The results show that most students understand the principles of gender equality, yet some still hold traditional stereotypes. Simple interventions, such as leadership rotation and inclusive routines, were proven effective in increasing gender awareness. These findings provide a new perspective on contextual strategies for strengthening gender education in NU-based madrasas and emphasize the importance of integrating gender education from the early grades to achieve sustainable inclusive practices.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a creative and contextual scrapbook-based learning model suited to the characteristics of MI students, and to examine its effectiveness in improving motivation and conceptual understanding. The need for innovative learning media arises because existing visual media have not sufficiently integrated cognitive, affective, and character-building aspects. The Research and Development (R&D) method was employed through stages of needs analysis, model design, expert validation, and limited trials. The research subjects consisted of education experts, MI teachers, and 26 fourth-grade students at MI NU An Nur Purworejo. The instruments used included expert validation sheets, observation sheets, questionnaires, and concept-understanding tests. The hypothesis tested whether the scrapbook significantly improved students’ understanding. The results showed an increase in pretest–posttest scores, excellent model implementability, and positive responses from both students and teachers. These findings indicate that scrapbook functions not only as a visual medium but also as a learning model that promotes active engagement and supports the internalization of character values through the SQ–IQ–EQ framework. This study contributes to the development of innovative learning models in MI and emphasizes the importance of integrating creative visual media to enhance the quality of learning.
