Abstract

This study examines Social Dynamics in Malay Inheritance Poetry focusing on the relationship between Islamic inheritance law and Malay socio-cultural values. The Malay Inheritance Poetry is not only a literary work but also a rich cultural heritage and social documentation that reflects the complex dynamics of Malay society in the context of inheritance distribution. This study, adopting a qualitative methodology based on both literature and field studies, using content analysis with structuralism and Derrida's post-structuralism theory. This approach aims to understand how inheritance distribution in the poetry reflects Islamic legal principles, as well as how gender roles in inheritance rights are portrayed in the text. The findings indicate that the poetry functions as a medium for articulating and internalizing Islamic legal values in the social and cultural life of the Malay community. The poetry also illustrates the interaction between tradition and modernity, as the Malay society faces challenges in maintaining cultural identity amidst the changing times. The study also reveals how social values related to family responsibility and mutual agreements in inheritance distribution are reinforced through the poetry. Furthermore, it shows how Islamic law is accepted and adapted within the local context, maintaining its socio-cultural relevance to this day. This research makes a significant contribution by enriching the understanding of the integration of Islamic law and Malay culture through literature and opens up opportunities for further studies in the field of law and literature within local cultural contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the reliability of ChatGPT in translating Arabic–Indonesian religious texts, addressing the concern that AI often struggles with culturally embedded, legal, and theological expressions as highlighted in recent translation studies. The issue is significant because Qur’anic and hadith texts carry normative meanings whose alterations may lead to doctrinal misinterpretation. Data were collected from ten Qur’anic legal verses and ten hadiths from al-Arbaʿīn al-Nawawiyyah, translated by ChatGPT using a standardized prompt. The translations were evaluated through Nababan et al.’s accuracy–acceptability–readability model by expert reviewers and general readers. Findings show that ChatGPT performs well in accuracy and readability but displays limitations in rendering legal terminology, cultural nuance, and doctrinally sensitive expressions. This research contributes empirical evidence on the strengths and risks of AI-assisted translation for Islamic texts and underscores the necessity of expert post-editing to ensure theological precision and culturally appropriate interpretation.

Abstract

Objective: This study analyzes the contribution of Muslim women-led agriculture in Bondowoso Regency to the reduction of household carbon emissions as well as the strengthening of ecological and economic resilience based on tengka values, supporting local SDGs targets. This study also formulates a synergy model for households, Islamic boarding schools, and village governments as a form of women's empowerment aligned with global SDGs objectives. Theoretical framework: This research is based on the integration of sustainable agriculture, women's empowerment, and Islamic ecology based on local wisdom. Tengka values serve as a framework for cultural empowerment that connects low-carbon practices with women's social agency. Literature review: Literature review shows that studies on low-carbon agriculture, women's leadership, and the role of local values are still rarely integrated simultaneously. This research fills this gap through an integrated cultural and institutional approach. Methods: This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design in Karanganyar Village, East Java. Data was obtained through interviews, observations, and document analysis. Results: The results showed that the production of local bhug-bhug feed from kitchen waste resulted in lower carbon emissions than industrial feed. This practice is able to reduce feed costs by up to 80% and strengthen household economic resilience. Implications: These findings confirm that climate change mitigation can be achieved through gender-equitable and culturally sensitive household farming practices. The synergy model of households–pesantren–village governments has the potential to become a reference for low-carbon village policies. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in the formulation of a tengka-based women's empowerment model that integrates low-carbon agricultural practices and local institutional synergy. This study places local wisdom and religious institutions as the foundation of sustainable ecological transformation (sdgs).
