Abstract

Borax is a hazardous chemical substance that is prohibited from being used as a food additive due to its adverse effects on human health. However, in practice, borax is still found in several traditional food products. This community service activity aimed to increase the knowledge and skills of the community in Kamal Village, Arjasa District, Jember Regency, in detecting the presence of borax in food products circulating in their environment. The methods used included educational sessions on the health risks of borax and hands-on training on simple borax detection tests applied to selected food samples. Three types of commonly consumed food samples—bleng/puli, white tofu, and meatballs—were tested in this activity. The results showed that the bleng/puli sample tested positive for borax, while the white tofu and meatball samples showed negative results. This activity enhanced community awareness of the risks associated with borax in food and equipped participants with basic skills to independently perform preliminary detection. It is expected that this program will encourage greater vigilance and promote the selection of safe food for consumption.

Abstract

One of the cancers with the most excellent death rates worldwide, including in Indonesia, is breast cancer. Elevated HER2 expression significantly contributes to breast cancer progression by stimulating cell proliferation. Targeted therapies such as trastuzumab have limitations due to potential side effects. This study aims to identify the possible role of soybean (Glycine max L.) isoflavone compounds in inhibiting HER2 using an in silico approach prediction of physicochemical properties, pharmacokinetics, and bioactivity through SwissADME and PASS Online. The Hex 8.0.0 docking tool and Biovia Discovery Studio 2019 looked into how molecules interact with each other in complicated ways. Our study revealed that physicochemically the compounds acetylgenistin, acetylglycitin, and acetyldaidzin met Lipinski's Rule of Five criteria (BM (< 500), Log P (< 5), HBD (< 5), HBA (< 10), and MR (40-130)), pharmacokinetically the compound acetylgenistin met the ADME parameters and bioactively all six compounds had anticancer activity (Pa > 0.2). Based on the results of molecular docking analysis, the six soy isoflavone compounds can interact and have low binding energy values. The binding energy values of malonylgenistin, acetylgenistin, and acetyldaidzin are the lowest and close to trastuzumab, at -286.6, -283.4, and -277.7kcal/mol, respectively. These findings suggest that soybean (Glycine max L.) isoflavone compounds have potential as anticancer drug candidates in inhibiting HER2.

Abstract

Kulit rentan rusak akibat radikal bebas sinar UV, sehingga membutuhkan antioksidan eksternal. Biji alpukat kaya flavonoid, fenol, vitamin E, tanin, dan asam lemak seperti linoleat, oleat, dan palmitat. Kandungan ini menjaga kelembapan dan kekencangan kulit, cocok digunakan dalam produk seperti hand body lotion. Membuktikan adanya kandungan senyawa dalam biji alpukat dan mendapatkan konsentrasi ekstrak biji alpukat yang menunjukkan mutu fisik yang baik dan hasil sediaan hand body lotion yang dapat diterima dengan baik oleh responden. Aquadest dijadikan pelarut dalam metode dekokta untuk menghasilkan ekstrak biji alpukat yang konsentrasinya mencakup 2%, 5%, dan 8%. Evaluasi sediaan mencakup uji mutu fisik organoleptis, pH, homogenitas, daya lekat, daya sebar, beserta pengujian terhadap panelis yaitu uji hedonik dan iritasi. Data dianalisis melalui aplikasi SPSS versi 25. Hasil uji mutu fisik (organoleptis, pH, homogenitas, daya lekat, beserta daya sebar) memperlihatkan hasil yang memenuhi persyaratan pengujian sediaan yang baik. Pada pengujian terhadap responden mendapatkan hasil penerimaan yang baik dan tidak terjadi reaksi iritasi. Ekstrak biji alpukat kaya akan senyawa flavonoid, tanin, saponin, beserta fenolik. Penelitian memperlihatkan bahwasanya formulasi hand body lotion yang mengandung ekstrak ini memenuhi standar mutu fisik, mencakup uji organoleptis, pH, homogenitas, daya lekat, beserta daya sebar. Pada uji terhadap responden hasil uji hedonik responden lebih menyukai warna sediaan pada formula F1 yaitu 54,5%, sementara aroma 72,7% dan tekstur 63,6% pada formula F2. Pengujian iritasi sediaan hand body lotion ini dapat diterima dengan baik karena tidak menyebabkan iritasi dan aman untuk digunakan.
