Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and social support and academic stress tendency among out-of-town students in Surabaya. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participants consisted of 110 out-of-town students who were currently enrolled in higher education institutions in Surabaya and were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were the academic stress tendency scale, the self-efficacy scale, and the social support scale. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicated that self-efficacy and social support simultaneously had a significant effect on academic stress tendency, with an obtained value of R = 0.783; F = 84.586 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.01). Partially, self-efficacy showed a significant negative relationship with academic stress tendency, whereas social support did not show a significant relationship with academic stress tendency. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-efficacy dan dukungan sosial dengan kecenderungan stres akademik pada mahasiswa rantau di Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 110 mahasiswa rantau yang sedang menempuh pendidikan di perguruan tinggi di Surabaya dan dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah skala kecenderungan stres akademik, skala self-efficacy, dan skala dukungan sosial. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teknik regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan self-efficacy dan dukungan sosial memiliki pengaruh secara simultan terhadap kecenderungan stres akademik dengan diperoleh nilai R=0,783; F=84,586 dengan signifikansi 0,000 (p<0,01). Secara parsial, self-efficacy memiliki hubungan negatif yang signifikan dengan kecenderungan stres akademik, sedangkan dukungan sosial tidak memiliki hubungan signifikan dengan kecenderungan stres akademik.
