Abstract

This study aimed to describe the impact of Islamic Religious Education teachers’ roles in shaping students’ religious character. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed thematically to identify patterns in teacher roles and forms of students’ religious character development. The findings show that Islamic Religious Education teachers play a strategic role as educators, spiritual guides, and moral exemplars, exerting a significant influence on the formation of students’ religious character. This impact is reflected in increased discipline in religious practice, strengthened social morality, enhanced moral awareness and religious understanding, and the development of students’ self-control in facing negative influences, including those originating from digital media. Character formation is carried out through the integration of cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects, supported by consistent religious habituation in daily life. A conducive religious education environment and family support further reinforce the internalization of Islamic values in students. Therefore, this study affirms that the success of religious character formation is not determined solely by instructional content, but is strongly shaped by teachers’ role modelling and active involvement, continuous religious habituation, and the synergy between schools and parents.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI) teachers in shaping students’ religious character through Aqidah Akhlak instruction at MI Sultan Fatah Demak, Central Java, Indonesia. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study involved 12 participants, including PAI teachers, the madrasah principal, and students. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analysed thematically. The findings show that PAI teachers play a strategic role as educators, spiritual guides, and moral role models in fostering students’ religious discipline, moral awareness, social ethics, religious understanding, and self-control in responding to negative influences, including digital media. The internalisation of Islamic values is strengthened through the integration of cognitive, affective, and behavioural aspects in learning, supported by religious habituation practices and collaboration between the madrasah and families. However, this study is limited to a single madrasah in a specific geographic context, which may restrict the generalisability of the findings.

Abstract

Global economic structural shifts driven by modern capitalism and technological advancements have increasingly shaped human lifestyles toward consumerism, materialism, and individualism. This phenomenon has had a significant impact on education systems, particularly Islamic economic education, which faces the challenge of cultivating Muslim generations who excel not only academically but also possess spiritual integrity and social responsibility. This article aims to explore the role of the Islamic Worldview as a comprehensive value framework in developing a transformative model of Islamic economic education. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, drawing from key literature including books, scholarly journals, and contemporary Islamic documents. The findings reveal that integrating the Islamic Worldview into economic education promotes the internalization of core values such as tauhid, amanah, qana’ah, and khilafah within the curriculum, instructional strategies, and economic character formation. This approach has proven effective in fostering an Islamic work ethic and economic self-reliance rooted in spirituality, blessing, and justice. The study concludes that Islamic economic education grounded in the Islamic Worldview is both a relevant and urgent approach to shaping productive, self-reliant, and morally grounded Muslim individuals amid contemporary global challenges.

Abstract

Education is a fundamental aspect of human life, and in the Indonesian context, the urgency of character education continues to grow amid rising moral issues such as student brawls, drug abuse, and corruption. This study aims to examine the importance of character education in shaping students’ emotional and moral intelligence based on the principles of the Qur’an and Hadith. A literature study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach. The findings indicate that character education functions not only as the inculcation of moral values but also as a guide for navigating emotional and social challenges. The teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith emphasize values such as honesty, justice, and kindness, which serve as the foundation for the development of noble character. Ideally, character education should begin in early childhood, with active involvement from parents and teachers as behavioral role models through habituation, exemplary conduct, and motivational support. The lack of implementation of values such as responsibility and respect within the school environment underscores the need to strengthen character education rooted in Islamic values. The study concludes that character education grounded in the Qur’an and Hadith plays a strategic role in producing individuals of integrity who can contribute positively to the nation’s civilization, with the family serving as the first and most influential educational institution.

Abstract

Islamic education plays a strategic role in developing human competencies holistically by integrating cognitive, psychomotor, and affective aspects, while emphasizing a balance between spiritual development and scientific knowledge in accordance with the values of the Qur’an and Sunnah. This study aims to explore curriculum integration at MI Sultan Fatah Demak, which combines Islamic and general education through two frameworks: the Kurikulum Merdeka and the pesantren curriculum. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzes the ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions of the curriculum through interviews, observations, and documentation involving students and educators. The findings reveal that the curriculum incorporates both formal and informal components designed to instill spiritual values and religious knowledge systematically. Diverse teaching methods are employed to foster a comprehensive understanding of Islamic principles while preparing students for higher levels of education. This curriculum integration reflects the institution’s commitment to shaping individuals who are faithful, devout, and intellectually competent, while supporting national educational goals within the context of Indonesian culture. The study underscores the importance of a contextual and integrative curriculum design in enhancing the quality of education in madrasahs.
