Abstract

The advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has become a key catalyst for change in education, including vocational education, which is required to be responsive to the developments of the 4.0 and 5.0 Industrial Revolutions. In the context of Vocational High Schools (SMK), AI has strategic potential to support the improvement of education quality through more adaptive, efficient, and relevant learning in line with the needs of the labor market. However, the utilization of AI that has not been managed in a planned and systematic way may lead to its instant use, which may not have an optimal impact on the quality of learning. This study aims to examine the management of AI innovation in efforts to improve the quality of education at SMK Negeri 1 Grati, identify factors that support and hinder its implementation, and analyze the effectiveness of the innovation management. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies involving school principals, teachers, and relevant stakeholders. Data analysis was carried out interactively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and its validity was tested using source and technique triangulation. The results of this study are expected to provide a comprehensive overview of AI innovation management based on management functions as a strategy for improving vocational education quality, as well as serve as a reference for schools and stakeholders in formulating policies for the targeted, responsible, and sustainable use of AI.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of principals’ transformational leadership in conflict management to improve teacher performance through a multicase study conducted at SDN Grati I and SDN Ranuklindungan II, Grati District, Pasuruan Regency. This study is motivated by low teacher performance influenced by horizontal and vertical conflicts, high administrative workloads, and low work motivation. Conflicts that are not managed effectively tend to be dysfunctional; however, through transformational leadership characterized by the dimensions of idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration, conflicts can be managed constructively. This research employed a qualitative approach with a multisite case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that transformational leadership is effective in managing conflicts through collaboration and compromise strategies, thereby creating a conducive work climate, enhancing work motivation, promoting instructional innovation, and improving teacher performance. Supporting factors include a collaborative culture and policy support, while inhibiting factors consist of budget limitations and resistance to change. The resulting conflict management model is adaptive to the school context.

Abstract

Educational challenges in the 21st century have become increasingly complex in line with the rapid development of technology and artificial intelligence, requiring educational institutions to prepare graduates who are not only proficient in technical skills but also possess strong character and higher-order thinking competencies. Vocational High Schools (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan/SMK) as vocational education institutions are required to integrate 21st-century character values, including critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration (4C), into the learning process. This study aims to examine the implementation of the integration of 4C character values through the application of the deep learning method in Civic Education (Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan/PKn) learning at SMKN 2 Sukorejo, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the application of the deep learning method in Civic Education learning is able to facilitate students in critically analyzing civic issues, fostering creativity in formulating solutions, enhancing communication skills, and strengthening collaboration through contextual and collaborative learning. Supporting factors include teacher readiness, a conducive school climate, and the relevance of learning materials, while the constraints encountered include limited instructional time and differences in students’ abilities. This study confirms that the deep learning method has the potential to serve as a strategic approach to strengthening 21st-century character development among vocational high school students.
