Abstract

The nyalamaq dilauq ritual is a cherished traditional custom of the Tanjung Luar community. This study aims to describe how the internalization of educational values within the nyalamaq dilauq ritual shapes student identity in the coastal area, specifically at SD Negeri 1 Tanjung Luar in Keruak District, East Lombok. A descriptive qualitative research design was employed, utilizing data collection methods such as observation, interviews, and documentation involving the school principal, teachers, students, traditional leaders, and local residents. The findings reveal that the nyalamaq dilauq ritual holds philosophical significance as an expression of gratitude, a symbol of unity, and a mark of respect for the marine ecosystem. Educational values such as cooperation, religiosity, responsibility, environmental awareness, and social solidarity are internalized through both school-based learning activities and real-life experiences within the community. This internalization process faces several challenges, including teachers' time constraints, limited support from outside the school environment, and declining interest among the younger generation in local traditions. Efforts to address these issues include teachers setting examples, active student participation, and the integration of ritual values into school programs. The study recommends strengthening the roles of both the school and the community in preserving and instilling local cultural values to ensure their continued existence amidst the challenges of globalization and modernization.
