Abstract

Background: Pre-operative anxiety is a psychological condition frequently experienced by patients before undergoing surgical procedures, particularly with regional anesthesia techniques. Unmanaged anxiety can affect the physiological condition of patients and disrupt the surgical process. One effective non-pharmacological intervention for reducing anxiety is the Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT).Methods: This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a two-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 30 respondents were divided into two groups: 15 respondents in the experimental group receiving SEFT intervention and 15 respondents in the control group. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling. Data collection instruments included the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The results indicate a significant reduction in anxiety levels in the experimental group after receiving SEFT intervention, with a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). In contrast, the control group showed no significant changes. Conclusion: This study concludes that SEFT therapy is effective in reducing anxiety levels in pre-operative regional anesthesia patients

Abstract

Background: Surgery is a medical procedure that can cause physical and psychological stress, especially anxiety in the preoperative stage. This anxiety can have a negative impact on the patient's health condition. To overcome anxiety, pharmacological (drug) and non-pharmacological therapy can be used, one of which is murottal Al-Qur'an therapy. This study aims to examine the effect of murottal therapy on patient anxiety levels before surgery through a literature review. Methods: This study uses a literature review method by collecting and analyzing relevant research results regarding the effect of Al-Qur'an murottal therapy on pre-operative patient anxiety. Data were collected from published scientific journals and hospital reports. Results: All articles showed a decrease in anxiety levels after the intervention of Al-Qur'an murottal, both in patients with cataract surgery, fractures, cesarean section, and pre-angiography. The decrease in anxiety was assessed using the HARS and ZSAS scales with statistically significant results (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Al-Quran murottal therapy has been proven effective in reducing pre-operative anxiety in patients and is recommended as a non-pharmacological therapy in the pre-operative care room

Abstract

Triage is a crucial process in the management of emergency patients to determine the priority of treatment based on the severity of the patient's condition. One of the triage systems used is the Emergency Severity Index (ESI). This study aims to determine the effect of triage Hospital Emergency Severity Index (ESI) video media on the knowledge of anesthesiology nursing students at Universitas 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group approach. The sample consisted of 40 students divided into two groups: 20 in the intervention group and 20 in the control group. The research instruments included an educational video and a knowledge questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann-Whitney test. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge in the intervention group after the video media was provided. The average knowledge score increased from 36.60 (pretest) to 70.05 (posttest), with the Wilcoxon test yielding a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). In contrast, the control group showed no significant change with a p-value of 1.000, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. The triage Hospital Emergency Severity Index video media is effective in enhancing the knowledge of anesthesiology nursing students.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Cardiac arrest is a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate intervention through Basic Life Support (BLS) to improve survival outcomes. Adolescents in Islamic boarding schools may encounter emergency situations; however, their attitudes toward providing BLS assistance are often inadequate. Innovative educational media, such as animated videos, may enhance learning engagement and foster positive helping attitudes. This study aimed to determine the effect of animated Basic Life Support education on helping attitudes among adolescents at an Islamic boarding schooly Methods: A pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted among 51 students of As-Sakinah Muhammadiyah 1 Islamic Boarding School, Yogyakarta. Participants were selected using purposive sampling. Helping attitudes toward BLS were measured using a structured questionnaire before and after the educational intervention. The intervention consisted of animated video-based BLS education. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: Prior to the intervention, most participants demonstrated moderate helping attitudes (74.5%), while 25.5% showed high helping attitudes. Following the intervention, all participants (100%) achieved a high level of helping attitude. Statistical analysis revealed a significant improvement in helping attitudes after the educational intervention (p=0.000), indicating that animated BLS education effectively enhanced participants’ willingness and readiness to provide assistance in emergency situations. Conclusion: Animated Basic Life Support education significantly improves helping attitudes among Islamic boarding school adolescents. The findings suggest that animated video-based education can serve as an effective strategy for increasing emergency preparedness and promoting positive bystander responses among adolescents. Future educational programs are encouraged to incorporate engaging digital media to strengthen Basic Life Support awareness and readiness.
