Abstract

AbstrakKegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pendampingan pembuatan alat peraga inovatif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman matematis siswa pada materi geometri di SLB-C Pancaran Kasih Kota Cirebon.  Kegiatan pendampingan dilakukan di SLB-C Pancaran Kasih Kota Cirebon pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Pada kegiatan ini melibatkan kolaborasi antara dosen dan mahasiswa Tadris Matematika UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, serta  siswa dan guru-guru matematika di SLB-C Pancaran Kasih Kota Cirebon. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pendekatan penelitian Participatory Action Research (PAR) yang mencakup pemberian pengetahuan tentang macam-macam alat peraga inovatif yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman matematis siswa pada materi geometri, bimbingan dalam merancang dan membuat alat peraga inovatif, serta pendampingan implementasi penggunaan alat peraga di kelas, dan evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil pendampingan menunjukkan bahwa pendampingan pembuatan alat peraga inovatif efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan guru matematika di SLB-C Pancaran Kasih Kota Cirebon dalam merancang, membuat dan menggunakan alat peraga inovatif pada materi geometri di kelas. Hasil pendampingan juga menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa pada materi geometri di SLB-C Pancaran Kasih Kota Cirebon meningkat. Aspek kepuasan siswa terhadap penggunaan alat peraga dalam pembelajaran geometri menunjukkan rata-rata sebesar 76% berada dalam kategori "Puas". Aspek kepuasan siswa terhadap kualitas alat peraga geometri menunjukkan rata-rata sebesar 78% berada dalam kategori "Baik". Aspek kepuasan guru terhadap penggunaan alat peraga dalam pembelajaran geometri menunjukkan rata-rata sebesar 76% berada dalam kategori "Puas". Kata kunci: alat peraga; pemahaman matematis; geometri. AbstractThis activity aims to provide guidance on the creation of innovative teaching aids to improve students' mathematical understanding of geometry at SLB-C Pancaran Kasih in Cirebon City.  The guidance activity was conducted at SLB-C Pancaran Kasih in Cirebon City during the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. This activity involves collaboration between lecturers and students of the Mathematics Education program at UIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, as well as students and mathematics teachers at SLB-C Pancaran Kasih in Cirebon City. The method used in this activity was the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, which included providing knowledge about various innovative teaching aids that can be used to enhance students' mathematical understanding of geometry, guidance in designing and creating innovative teaching aids, mentoring the implementation of teaching aids in the classroom, and evaluating the activity. The results of the mentoring showed that the mentoring in creating innovative teaching aids was effective in improving the ability of mathematics teachers at SLB-C Pancaran Kasih in Cirebon City to design, create, and use innovative teaching aids for geometry lessons in the classroom. The results also indicated that students' mathematical understanding of geometry at SLB-C Pancaran Kasih in Cirebon City improved. The aspect of student satisfaction with the use of teaching aids in geometry learning showed an average of 76% in the “Satisfied” category. The aspect of student satisfaction with the quality of geometry teaching aids showed an average of 78% in the ‘Good’ category. The aspect of teacher satisfaction with the use of teaching aids in geometry learning showed an average of 76% in the “Satisfied” category. Keywords: teaching aids; mathematical understanding; geometry.

Abstract

Spatial ability plays a crucial role in geometry learning, yet its cognitive predictors within higher education contexts remain underexplored. While prior research has established associations between spatial reasoning and mathematical performance, limited studies have examined the combined predictive roles of mathematical critical thinking and mathematical connection abilities within a single regression framework. This study investigates the structural predictive influence of these two cognitive constructs on students’ mathematical spatial ability among pre-service mathematics teachers. A quantitative explanatory correlational design was employed, involving all 23 students enrolled in a Spatial Geometry course at UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon during the 2025/2026 academic year. The sample represented a census of the accessible cohort, as the entire population meeting the inclusion criteria was included. Data were collected using validated essay-based instruments aligned with established theoretical indicators. Multiple regression analysis was conducted after verifying statistical assumptions. The results indicate that mathematical critical thinking ability significantly predicts mathematical spatial ability (p = 0.001), and mathematical connection ability also demonstrates a significant positive predictive role (p = 0.000). Jointly, both predictors explain 81.1% of the variance in spatial ability (Adjusted R² = 0.811). These findings highlight the integrative contribution of analytical reasoning and conceptual linkage processes to spatial cognition and suggest that geometry instruction may benefit from systematically fostering critical thinking and mathematical connections.

Abstract

The present study aims to design and develop an interactive website as a learning medium grounded in the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach, specifically focusing on number concepts for seventh-grade junior high school students. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) methodology utilizing the ADDIE model, encompassing five systematic phases: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The validation process involved five experts consisting of mathematics education lecturers and teachers. The validation outcomes demonstrated that the developed media met the feasibility criteria and was categorized as "good" in the aspects of content, media, and language. A limited implementation involving 20 students revealed highly positive responses, indicating that the website was both practical and engaging, with an average score exceeding 85%. The developed website facilitates contextualized learning of number concepts, enhances interactivity, and promotes students' engagement and conceptual understanding. Thus, the interactive website is deemed appropriate to serve as a digital alternative instructional medium in mathematics education.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving ability is a fundamental competency in mathematics education that is influenced by various cognitive factors, including mathematical reasoning and communication. However, the individual and simultaneous contributions of these abilities to students' mathematical problem-solving performance remain insufficiently understood. This study aimed to examine the influence of mathematical reasoning and communication abilities on students' problem-solving. A quantitative study employing an ex post facto design was conducted with 23 eighth-grade students from a junior high school in Cirebon, Indonesia. Data were collected using validated essay-based instruments measuring mathematical reasoning, mathematical communication, and mathematical problem-solving abilities. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression. The findings revealed that the regression model satisfied the assumptions of normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity. The regression analysis indicated that both mathematical reasoning and mathematical communication abilities significantly affected students' problem-solving performance (p < 0.001), explaining 85.6% of the variance in problem-solving performance. Partial regression analysis showed that mathematical reasoning ability did not have a statistically significant effect (β = 0.147, p = 0.352), whereas mathematical communication ability had a significant positive effect (β = 1.378, p < 0.001). These findings indicate that mathematical communication ability is a stronger predictor of students' problem-solving than mathematical reasoning. Therefore, mathematics instruction should emphasise learning activities that foster students' mathematical communication and reasoning, thereby enhancing their problem-solving performance.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesulitan siswa sekolah dasar dalam memahami konsep geometri bangun datar yang bersifat abstrak serta keterbatasan guru dalam memanfaatkan media pembelajaran inovatif. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah mendampingi guru dalam merancang dan mengembangkan alat peraga pembelajaran matematika berbasis teori Bruner guna meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogis serta mendukung pembelajaran yang lebih bermakna. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR) yang dilaksanakan melalui tahapan perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi, yang diimplementasikan dalam bentuk penjelasan teori, praktik pembuatan alat peraga, serta simulasi penggunaannya dalam pembelajaran. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa aspek pelaksanaan kegiatan memperoleh persentase 87%, kualitas alat peraga 86%, dan manfaat penggunaannya 87%, yang seluruhnya berada pada kategori sangat baik. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa program pendampingan terlaksana secara efektif, menghasilkan media pembelajaran yang aplikatif, serta memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan motivasi dan pemahaman konsep geometri siswa. Selain itu, alat peraga yang dihasilkan berpotensi menjadi perangkat pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan secara berkelanjutan dalam praktik pembelajaran di sekolah. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar dan memiliki potensi untuk direplikasi pada konteks yang lebih luas.

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika di sekolah sering menghadapi kendala karena sifatnya yang abstrak, sehingga siswa kesulitan memahami konsep secara mendalam. Salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah penggunaan alat peraga sebagai media konkret dalam proses pembelajaran. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam mengembangkan dan memanfaatkan alat peraga geometri bidang datar di SMPN 2 Sumber, Kabupaten Cirebon. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) atau KUPAR yang melibatkan kolaborasi antara dosen dan mahasiswa Tadris Matematika UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon bersama guru sekolah. Proses pelaksanaan meliputi lima tahap, yaitu To Know, To Understand, To Plan, To Action, dan To Reflection. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan memperoleh respons yang sangat baik, dengan rata-rata aspek pelaksanaan sebesar 86,55%, kualitas alat peraga 82,25%, dan manfaat penggunaannya 84,12%. Alat peraga yang dikembangkan dinilai efektif, menarik, dan relevan dengan kebutuhan pembelajaran. Program ini berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan pedagogis dan teknis guru, serta mendorong pembelajaran matematika yang lebih interaktif, kontekstual, dan bermakna bagi siswa.
