Abstract

Over the decades, advancements in computer technology have significantly contributed to the development of numerical methods, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD). CFD encompasses two primary approaches: mesh-based and mesh-free methods. While mesh-based methods are well-established and widely used for analyzing free-surface flows, such as ship resistance, mesh-free methods like smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) have gained traction in real-world engineering applications. Despite its growing use, limited research has explored the application of SPH to ship resistance analysis. This study investigates the total ship resistance of a planing hull using the open-source SPH solver DualSPHysics. The research focuses on analyzing spray patterns and complex flow dynamics around the hull. DualSPHysics typically employs dynamic boundary conditions (DBC) as its standard boundary definition method. However, this study utilizes an advanced implementation of DBC, known as Modified Dynamic Boundary Conditions (mDBC), in conjunction with Project Chrono for enhanced simulation accuracy. The results demonstrate that SPH provides acceptable accuracy when compared to the Strip theory approach. Additionally, key parameters such as total force, sinkage, and trim are effectively reproduced using Project Chrono. This research highlights the potential of SPH, particularly with advanced boundary conditions, for ship resistance analysis and contributes to the growing body of knowledge in this field.

Abstract

The trend of fiscal decentralization and infrastructure development such as roads, sanitation, and electricity in the 6 provinces on the island of Java, which tends to increase every year, should be able to reduce inequality. However, on the contrary, this condition of inequality has not significantly improved. The average Gini index in 6 provinces on the island of Java from 2013-2022 was 0.395, while the national average for the same period was 0.391. This indicates a serious problem regarding income inequality in Java. This study aims to analyze the influence of fiscal decentralization and infrastructure development on income inequality in 6 provinces on the island of JavaThe analysis method used in this study is panel data regression using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). This study uses 60 secondary data points. The data used in this study were sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Finance.Based on the research findings, it was found that the fiscal decentralization variable had a significant positive effect on income inequality. The sanitation variable had a significant negative effect on inequality. Furthermore, the road and electricity variables did not have a significant effect on income inequality.

Abstract

Abstract This article examines how Daoed Joesoef mediated Islamic ethics and state rationality in postcolonial Indonesia. Using qualitative-interpretative intellectual history, it analyzes eight works through close reading, contextual reconstruction, and comparative interpretation. Findings show that Joesoef did not treat secularism as an exclusion of religion. He reframed it as ethical rationality that protects pluralism and prevents confessional capture while keeping state power morally accountable. Islam functions as a source of civic virtue—justice, trust, adab, responsibility, and service—rather than a juridical-state ideology. Joesoef translated these principles into educational statecraft through literacy, character formation, and institutional discipline. The article terms this synthesis "Islamic Rational Statecraft," demonstrating how an Indonesian Muslim intellectual transformed secularism into a contextual grammar of moral governance beyond the secular-state/Islamic-state binary.
