Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the implementation of cultural arts learning using the self-directed learning method at SMAN 2 Ranah Batahan. The type of research used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The research instrument is the researcher themselves, assisted by supporting instruments such as stationery and a mobile phone. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, literature study, and documentation. The data analysis techniques in this study include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results and discussion conclude that the learning process has proven to be effective. The implementation of cultural arts learning on traditional dance material using the self-directed learning method in Class XI.1 SMAN 2 Ranah Batahan was carried out through four meetings. Students were able to go through the learning stages starting from understanding the concept of traditional dance, discussing and arranging choreography in groups, to performing the dance in the field. Thus, traditional dance learning based on self-directed learning can be said to be effective in achieving learning objectives while also supporting the achievement of the independent curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyse the form of the Pilin Salapan Dance Performance in Kenagarian Air Bangis, Sungai Beremas District, West Pasaman Regency. This type of research is qualitative with a descriptive method. It uses primary and secondary data, with the main researcher being the researcher themselves, supported by instruments such as writing tools and a camera. Data collection techniques are conducted through literature study, observation, interviews, and documentation. The steps of data analysis are data collection into classifications, data analysis, data interpretation and drawing conclusions. The research results show that the Pilin Salapan Dance performances are often displayed within the community. The Pilin Salapan Dance is frequently performed at events organised by the local community such as weddings, festivals, birthdays in West Pasaman and the welcoming of the West Pasaman regent, performed at the request of the West Pasaman tourism office and at competition events.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of dance extracurricular activities at SMP Negeri 5 Padang. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects are students who participate in dance extracurricular activities with Mandeh creative dance material. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, literature study, and documentation, while data analysis is carried out through reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that the implementation of the activities includes planning, execution, and evaluation stages. The activities were conducted through lectures and demonstrations to enhance students' mastery of movements, teamwork, and expression. The challenges faced included limited practice space, inconsistent attendance, and low interest among male students. However, the space limitation was addressed by using the school field as an alternative practice area. Overall, these activities had a positive impact on the students' creativity, skills, and self-confidence.
