Abstract

ABSTRACT Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability in the elderly and often causes impaired physical function, including decreased muscle strength, balance, and mobility. Many elderly stroke survivors experience limitations in doing independent Exercise, while caregivers also still face obstacles such as limited knowledge, unstructured mentoring methods, and inefficient manual recording. Answer this problem, a Geriatric Care application was developed which contains three main components, namely physical examinations (vital signs), functional examinations such as the Five Times Sit to Stand Test (FTSST) (specifically for mild and moderate stroke conditions), and Exerciserecommendations based on stroke severity (mild, moderate, and severe). This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of caregiver empowerment through the use of Geriatric Care applications in improving the mentoring ability and muscle strength of elderly stroke survivors. The research method used a pre-post intervention design on 30 caregivers and 30 elderly people, with interventions in the form of training on the use of applications and the provision of physical Exercise according to recommendations, namely gymnastics for the elderly with mild and moderate conditions, and mobilization Exercises for severe conditions. The results showed an increase in caregiver understanding by 46.3% after training, an improvement in the quality of more targeted assistance based on application recommendations, and an increase in the muscle strength of the elderly as seen from the improvement in the time of the Five Times Sit to Stand Test (FTSST) in the light and medium groups. These findings show that the Geriatric Care application is able to assist caregivers in conducting examinations, determining appropriate Exercises, and supporting physiological improvement, especially muscle strength in the elderly. It is recommended that the use of this application continue to be developed as a continuous digital mentoring medium and socialized to other elderly communities to increase the effectiveness of post-stroke rehabilitation. Keywords: Caregiver, Elderly, Muscle Strength, Geriatric Care Application, Stroke.
