Abstract

Multiplication is a fundamental topic in mathematics learning that often presents challenges for students, particularly in achieving speed and accuracy in calculations. This issue was identified among ninth-grade students at MTsN 1 Probolinggo, where learning practices were found to be less engaging and insufficient in supporting students’ conceptual understanding. To address this problem, this community service activity implemented the Jarimatika method as an innovative instructional approach to improve students’ multiplication skills. Jarimatika employs concrete and kinesthetic visualization through the use of fingers, which is suitable for the cognitive characteristics of junior secondary school students. The activity was conducted through three main stages: needs-based planning, participative training, and game-based evaluation. During the participative training stage, students actively practiced multiplication techniques using Jarimatika under guided instruction, while the game-based evaluation aimed to reinforce speed and accuracy in a positive and competitive learning atmosphere. The results demonstrated that students experienced greater ease in performing multiplication operations and showed high levels of enthusiasm and active participation throughout the learning process. Although quantitative measurements were not employed, qualitative observations indicated improvements in students’ confidence, responsiveness, and engagement in mathematics learning. These findings suggest that the Jarimatika method is effective in creating an interactive and enjoyable learning environment and has strong potential to enhance students’ motivation and learning outcomes in mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning motivation of ninth-grade students of MTs Negeri 1 Probolinggo in Mathematics through the use of Woyground educational game media. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles. Each cycle includes the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 35 ninth-grade students of MTs Negeri 1 Probolinggo in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data collection was carried out through observation, learning motivation questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. Data were analyzed by calculating the percentage increase in learning motivation based on the formula proposed by Yonny et al. The results showed that the use of Woyground educational games can significantly increase student learning motivation. In the initial conditions, the average student learning motivation was 49% (moderate category). After the action in cycle I, learning motivation increased to 65% (high category), and in cycle II it increased again to 77.14% (very high category). Furthermore, increased learning motivation also impacted student learning outcomes, with completion rates increasing from 8.51% in the initial phase to 45.71% in Cycle I and 88.57% in Cycle II. This demonstrates that the implementation of the Woyground educational game media can create an engaging, interactive, and enjoyable learning environment, thereby enhancing student motivation and learning outcomes in Mathematics.

Abstract

Kemampuan penalaran matematis merupakan salah satu kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi yang berperan penting dalam pembelajaran matematika. Penalaran matematis berkaitan erat dengan pemahaman konsep, sehingga perlu dikembangkan melalui proses belajar yang tepat. Salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa adalah kemandirian belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa berdasarkan tingkat kemandirian belajar pada materi lingkaran di SMP ISLAM AR-RAFIIYYAH Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Sampel penelitian diambil secara acak berdasarkan kelas dalam populasi, dengan kelas VIII C SMP ISLAM AR-RAFIIYYAH tahun pelajaran 2025/2026 sebagai subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan kemandirian belajar rendah dapat dikategorikan kemampuan penalaran matematisnya rendah, siswa dengan kemandirian belajar sedang dapat dikategorikan kemampuan penalaran matematisnya juga sedang, dan siswa dengan kemandirian belajar tinggi dapat dikategorikan kemampuan penalaran matematisnya yang tinggi. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara kemandirian belajar dan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan pertimbangan bagi guru dalam merancang pembelajaran yang mendorong kemandirian belajar serta meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the numerical characteristics of the number of verses in all suras of the Quran based on the concept of prime numbers using a number theory approach. This study is a library research study using a descriptive analytical approach. The research data consists of the number of verses in 114 suras of the Quran sourced from the Indonesian Standard Quranic Manuscript published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Improved Edition, 2017. Prime numbers were identified using the remainder (modulo) method, then analyzed through frequency of occurrence, descriptive statistics, and distribution patterns. Furthermore, a structural analysis of the ruku' (bowing) was conducted by comparing the Indonesian Standard Quranic Manuscript and the Holy Quranic Manuscript.The results show that 32 suras have verses that are prime numbers, while 82 suras have verses that are composite numbers. The prime numbers that appear as the number of verses in a surah are 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 29, 31, 37, 43, 53, 59, 73, 83, 89, 109, and 227, with the prime number 11 having the highest frequency of occurrence. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis show an average value (mean) of 33.625, a median of 18, a mode of 11, a minimum value of 3, and a maximum value of 227. The analysis of the ruku' structure reveals that out of 114 surahs, 107 surahs have the same number of ruku' in both mushafs, while 7 surahs show differences in the number of ruku'. These differences do not reflect differences in content, number of verses, or the arrangement of the verses of the Qur'an, but rather represent variations in the system of dividing reading themes between mushafs. This research is expected to contribute to the development of interdisciplinary studies between mathematics and Qur'anic studies, as well as become a basis for further research that examines the numerical aspects of the Qur'an using other mathematical concepts.
