Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in developing elementary school students' statistical literacy skills. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach involving 16 sixth-grade students from Sanggrahan Public Elementary School in Surakarta City. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and document analysis, then analyzed using the Miles & Huberman model. The results showed that the application of PBL was able to improve students' data interpretation skills, critical thinking, and active involvement in statistics learning. Students admitted that it was easier to understand the material because the learning activities involved real experiences and group discussions, while teachers and the principal stated that PBL had a positive impact on the quality of learning even though it required more preparation and time. Factors supporting success included teachers' mastery of PBL, adequate facilities and infrastructure, and school support; while obstacles included time constraints and the need for intensive preparation. This study confirms that PBL is an effective approach to improve elementary school students' statistical literacy and is relevant for application in contextual mathematics learning.   Keyword: Problem-Based Learning, Statistical Literacy, Elementary School.

Abstract

Optimal nutritional fulfillment is a crucial factor in supporting the development of elementary school students, both in terms of health and learning readiness. One national policy designed to address this issue is the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG). This study aims to analyze the role of the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) in supporting the development of elementary school students and identify key findings and implementation challenges based on a literature review. This study used a qualitative approach with a literature review method on 20 relevant scientific articles published in the last five years and obtained through the Google Scholar, Garuda, and SINTA databases. The study results indicate that the MBG Program contributes positively to fulfilling students' nutritional needs, improving concentration and learning readiness, cognitive development, learning motivation, and character building and healthy lifestyle habits. However, the implementation of the MBG Program still faces various challenges, particularly related to the readiness of facilities and infrastructure, human resources, and program sustainability. Therefore, strengthening cross-sectoral coordination and a continuous monitoring system is needed so that the benefits of the MBG Program can be optimized in supporting the quality of basic education.
