Abstract

Inappropriate learning media can cause low understanding of concepts in elementary school students, so it is necessary to choose the right media for the learning process. Pop - Up Books are an alternative to improve understanding of concepts in elementary school students. This research aims to determine the difference between understanding the concepts of the control class and the experimental class and the influence of the Pop-Up Book on increasing the understanding of the concepts of class VI students in the solar system material. This research uses a quantitative approach with quasi-experiment as the research method. This research uses a One-Group design, which involves pretest testing before treatment and posttest testing in one specified group. The population in this study were all students at SD Negeri Sukaraja 1 who studied science learning material about the solar system. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with a sample of 26 students in class IV A of SD Negeri Sukaraja 1 and 29 students in class IV B of SD Negeri Sukaraja 1. The results of the first data analysis showed that there were significant differences, because they both had differences, the N-Test was carried out. Gains. The second analysis carried out the Effect Size test and obtained the results that the use of Pop-Up Books had a big influence on increasing the understanding of concepts in class VI students regarding the solar system. Keywords: Pop – Up Book, Elementary School, Solar System, Understanding Concepts ABSTRAK Media pembelajaran yang tidak tepat dapat menyebabkan rendahnya pemahaman konsep pada siswa sekolah dasar, sehingga diperlukan pemilihan media yang tepat untuk proses pembelajaran. Pop - Up Book merupakan salah satu alternatif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep pada siswa sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan antara pemahaman konsep kelas kontrol dan kelas eksprimen dan pengaruh Pop-Up Book terhadap peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas VI pada materi tata surya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan quasi eksperimen sebagai metode penelitiannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain One-Group, yang melibatkan pengujian Pretest sebelum perlakuan dan pengujian Posttest pada satu kelompok yang ditentukan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik di SD Negeri Sukaraja 1 yang mempelajari materi tata surya pembelajaran IPA. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan simple random sampling dengan sampel 26 siswa kelas IV A SD Negeri Sukaraja 1 dan 29 siswa kelas IV B SD Negeri Sukaraja 1 Hasil analisis data pertama menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan, dikarenakan sama – sama memiliki perbedaan maka dilakukan Uji N-Gain. Analisis kedua dilakukan uji Effect Size dan memperoleh hasil bahwa penggunaan Pop – Up Book berpengaruh besar terhadap peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas VI pada materi tata surya.
