Abstract

Project-based learning provides students with the opportunity to explore learning that is relevant to current real-world issues, thus serving as an effective method to foster independence, and enhance critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and practical skills. This project serves as a platform for students to learn, observe, and formulate solutions to problems in their surrounding environment. This study aims to analyze students’ skills in making fertilizer and examine the differences in their skills before and after the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) in producing liquid organic fertilizer at SD Negeri 1 Sungai Bungin. The study adopts a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects consisted of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Sungai Bungin who participated in the liquid organic fertilizer project. Data collection techniques included tests, performance assessments, and observations. The pretest results showed that students’ initial skills were relatively low in problem identification and understanding the benefits of liquid organic fertilizer. After the implementation of the P5 project, posttest scores significantly increased, indicating a positive impact on students’ skills, particularly in critical thinking, collaboration, and environmental problem-solving. Additional findings revealed that students not only improved their technical abilities in making liquid organic fertilizer but also developed character traits such as teamwork, environmental awareness, and creativity.
