Abstract

The Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) level has an important role in shaping the character and morals of students since adolescence. However, along with the development of the era and increasingly complex social challenges, the existing curriculum needs to be developed to be more relevant to the needs of today's students. This article aims to examine how the PAI curriculum at MTs can be developed with a more contextual, adaptive approach, and in accordance with technological developments and student character. The method used in this writing is a case study by reviewing various sources of literature and applicable curriculum documents. The results of the study show that in its development, the PAI curriculum at MTs has a good impact such as students' ability to read, understand, and interpret the contents of the Qur'an and Hadith. In addition, in terms of attitude and personality, students show more religious behavior and good character.

Abstract

This study explores the strategic role of teachers in the development and implementation of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum in madrasahs and schools. Teachers are not only instructional executors but also curriculum developers, innovators, and evaluators who play a vital role in designing learning tools such as annual programs, semester plans, and teaching modules. Within the context of the Merdeka Curriculum, teachers are required to tailor learning to students' characteristics, Islamic values, and socio-cultural diversity. This study also highlights challenges in implementing the PAI curriculum, including limited learning facilities, low parental involvement, and unsupportive environments. Therefore, collaboration between teachers, schools, and the community is essential for the successful implementation of a holistic, adaptive, and contextual curriculum that fosters morally upright and tolerant students.

Abstract

This article discusses the development of the curriculum and evaluation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at MA Smart Roudlotul Jinan Cilacap. The focus of the study lies in the integration between the formal curriculum of the PAI group which includes the subjects of Akidah Akhlak, Fiqh, Al-Qur'an Hadith, and History of Islamic Culture with traditional Islamic science programs in the form of tahfidzul Qur'an and the study of yellow books, such as Fathul Qorib and Al-Miftah Sidogiri. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of literature studies, semi-structured interviews with teachers and ustadz, and participatory observation in learning activities. The results of the study show that MA Smart Roudlotul Jinan has implemented the Merdeka Curriculum with an integrative approach, namely combining national education values with the tradition of Islamic boarding school knowledge. The learning model used prioritizes active student participation, contextualization of Islamic values, and strengthening character through internalization of the morals and manners of students. Learning evaluation is carried out continuously through formative and summative assessments, as well as strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile. This integration shows that Islamic Religious Education in madrasas is able to answer the challenges of the times without abandoning the roots of classical Islamic traditions that have been deeply rooted in Indonesia.
