Abstract

This study aims to strengthen elementary school students’ understanding of weight and volume units through the use of unit ladder learning media. Difficulties in understanding unit relationships and unit conversions are common problems in elementary mathematics learning, as students often rely on memorization rather than conceptual understanding. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to analyze and synthesize national research findings related to the use of concrete and visual learning media, particularly unit ladder media, in teaching weight and volume units. Data were collected from reputable national databases such as Google Scholar, SINTA, Garuda, and DOAJ, using keywords related to mathematics learning media and measurement units. The findings indicate that unit ladder media both manual and digital are effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding, reducing misconceptions, and enhancing accuracy and speed in unit conversion. The visual and hierarchical structure of the unit ladder helps students comprehend the relationships among units and facilitates the transition from concrete experiences to abstract mathematical reasoning. The study concludes that unit ladder learning media play a significant role in strengthening students’ understanding of weight and volume concepts and provide practical implications for elementary school teachers in designing effective and meaningful mathematics instruction. Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of sports extracurricular activities on the social skills of elementary school students in Cluster II Kasihan, Bantul. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of all elementary school students in Cluster II Kasihan Bantul, with a sample of 110 students selected using purposive sampling, specifically students who participated in sports extracurricular activities. Data were collected through closed-ended questionnaires using a four-point Likert scale and analyzed using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. The results showed a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.743 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a strong and positive relationship between sports extracurricular activities and students’ social skills. Furthermore, the regression analysis revealed an R Square value of 0.552, meaning that sports extracurricular activities contributed 55.2% to the variation in students’ social skills. These findings indicate that sports extracurricular activities have a significant effect on improving elementary school students’ social skills. Therefore, optimizing sports extracurricular programs is important to support students’ social development at the elementary education level.
