Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap konsep matematika yang terdapat dalam ukiran batu pada Candi Borobudur. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beberapa konsep matematika yang terkandung dalam ukiran batu pada Candi Borobudur, seperti konsep geometri, aritmetika, dan trigonometri. Konsep geometri terlihat dalam bentuk ukiran-ukiran lingkaran, segitiga, dan persegi. Sedangkan konsep aritmetika dapat ditemukan dalam pola-pola angka yang terdapat pada beberapa ukiran batu. Konsep trigonometri muncul dalam bentuk ukiran-ukiran sudut yang terdapat pada beberapa bagian dari Candi Borobudur. Penemuan konsep matematika dalam ukiran batu pada Candi Borobudur dapat diintegrasikan dengan pembelajaran matematika di Sekolah Dasar, khususnya dalam pembelajaran geometri dan aritmetika. Guru-guru matematika dapat memanfaatkan ukiran batu pada Candi Borobudur sebagai media pembelajaran yang menarik dan efektif. Selain itu, penemuan ini dapat juga menjadi inspirasi bagi para seniman dan perancang untuk mengembangkan karya seni yang mengintegrasikan konsep matematika dengan nilai-nilai budaya lokal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penerapan strategi pembelajaran faktorisasi prima dalam menentukan Kelipatan Persekutuan Terkecil (KPK) serta menganalisis dampaknya terhadap pemahaman siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan desain studi kasus, melibatkan guru dan siswa kelas V SD Negeri Nogosaren. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktorisasi prima membantu siswa memahami struktur bilangan secara lebih mendalam melalui penguraian bilangan ke dalam faktor primanya, sekaligus membuat proses penentuan KPK lebih sistematis. Pembelajaran menjadi lebih aktif, ditandai meningkatnya antusiasme siswa, keberanian bertanya, serta kemampuan berdiskusi dan mempresentasikan hasil kerja

Abstract

Learning the concepts of points and lines is an important foundation in elementary mathematics because it serves as the foundation for understanding geometry and space. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a learning model that emphasizes an understanding of the concepts of points and lines. The research method used was a literature review and descriptive analysis of various relevant sources, including textbooks, research articles, and observations of elementary school students' practices. The study results indicate that a constructivist-based learning approach, the use of concrete media, and visual exploration activities can improve students' abilities to identify, describe, and connect points and lines in contextual situations. Furthermore, the integration of simple problem-solving activities enables students to strengthen mathematical literacy, particularly in the aspects of reasoning, representation, and communication. Overall, this study strengthens and confirms that a learning strategy centered on understanding basic geometric concepts, especially points and lines, significantly improves elementary school students' mathematical literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to strengthen elementary school students’ understanding of weight and volume units through the use of unit ladder learning media. Difficulties in understanding unit relationships and unit conversions are common problems in elementary mathematics learning, as students often rely on memorization rather than conceptual understanding. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to analyze and synthesize national research findings related to the use of concrete and visual learning media, particularly unit ladder media, in teaching weight and volume units. Data were collected from reputable national databases such as Google Scholar, SINTA, Garuda, and DOAJ, using keywords related to mathematics learning media and measurement units. The findings indicate that unit ladder media both manual and digital are effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding, reducing misconceptions, and enhancing accuracy and speed in unit conversion. The visual and hierarchical structure of the unit ladder helps students comprehend the relationships among units and facilitates the transition from concrete experiences to abstract mathematical reasoning. The study concludes that unit ladder learning media play a significant role in strengthening students’ understanding of weight and volume concepts and provide practical implications for elementary school teachers in designing effective and meaningful mathematics instruction. Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary schools requires instructional media that are appropriate to students’ cognitive development, as learners are still in the concrete operational stage. One mathematical topic that is often difficult for students to understand is the concept of volume of three-dimensional shapes. This article aims to systematically review previous studies on the use of three-dimensional geometry media as a means of strengthening students’ understanding of volume concepts in elementary school mathematics learning. The method used in this study was a literature review by analyzing ten relevant national journal articles obtained through Google Scholar using the keywords three-dimensional geometry media, volume concepts, mathematics learning, and elementary school. The analyzed data included research subjects, types of media used, research methods, and research findings. The results of the review indicate that three-dimensional geometry media, including concrete models, interactive media, instructional videos, Android-based media, and augmented reality, are effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding of volume, learning outcomes, learning activities, and learning motivation. These media help students visualize abstract concepts concretely and connect mathematical ideas with real learning experiences. Therefore, the use of three-dimensional geometry media is recommended as an effective instructional strategy to enhance students’ understanding of volume concepts in elementary school mathematics learning. Abstract

Elementary school students’ understanding of mixed arithmetic operations remains a challenge in mathematics learning. One effort to address this issue is through the use of contextual learning media that connect mathematical content with real-life situations and students’ everyday experiences. This study aims to examine the effect of contextual learning media on elementary school students’ understanding of mixed arithmetic operations through a literature study. The method employed was a literature review by analyzing various scientific sources, including journal articles, books, and relevant research findings published within a certain period. The results of the review indicate that the use of contextual learning media improves students’ conceptual understanding of mixed arithmetic operations, helps students relate abstract concepts to real-world situations, and enhances students’ learning motivation and active participation. In addition, contextual media contribute to reducing conceptual errors and improving mathematics learning outcomes. Based on the findings of the literature review, it can be concluded that contextual learning media have a positive and significant effect on elementary school students’ understanding of mixed arithmetic operations and are therefore recommended for optimal implementation in elementary school mathematics learning. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi efektivitas strategi literasi terstruktur dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca dan menulis siswa kelas 1 SD Mutiara Persada. Dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan desain one group pretest-posttest, penelitian melibatkan 25 siswa yang mengikuti kegiatan literasi terintegrasi (literasi pagi, pojok baca, jurnal harian, dan menulis kreatif) selama 14 hari. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes membaca-menulis, observasi, dan angket. Analisis uji-t sampel berpasangan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan skor membaca dan menulis siswa (p < 0,05). Rata-rata skor membaca meningkat dari 58,40 menjadi 78,20, sedangkan skor menulis naik dari 52,80 menjadi 74,60. Hasil ini membuktikan bahwa strategi literasi sistematis efektif meningkatkan literasi dasar pada pendidikan dasar awal.

Abstract

Difficulties in understanding fractions with unlike denominators remain a common problem in elementary mathematics learning. These difficulties are often caused by abstract teaching approaches and limited use of concrete learning media. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of pizza puzzle media as a learning aid in teaching fractions with unlike denominators in elementary schools. The research employed a literature review method by systematically analyzing national journal articles published within the last ten years. Data were collected from reputable databases such as Google Scholar, SINTA, and Garuda using keywords related to puzzle media, fraction learning, and elementary mathematics education. The results of the literature analysis indicate that pizza puzzle media effectively improves students’ conceptual understanding of fractions, reduces misconceptions in comparing and adding fractions with different denominators, and increases student learning activity and motivation. The visual and manipulative characteristics of pizza puzzle media help students understand fractions as parts of a whole and support meaningful learning experiences. Therefore, pizza puzzle media can be considered an effective and relevant instructional aid for teaching fractions with unlike denominators in elementary schools. Abstract

Learning mathematics in elementary school requires a strong conceptual understanding, particularly in measurement topics such as length, weight, time, and the volume of cubes and rectangular prisms, which are often perceived as abstract by students. This study aims to review and analyze previous research related to the use of concrete media in teaching measurement concepts in elementary schools. This research employed a literature review method by collecting and examining relevant articles from accredited national journals and reputable online journals. The data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach to identify patterns, similarities, and differences in research findings. The results of the literature review indicate that the use of concrete media, such as measuring tools, unit ladders, Smartbox, Boxes Paper, unit cubes, and other manipulatives, has a positive impact on students’ conceptual understanding, learning engagement, and learning outcomes. Concrete media are effective in helping students understand measurement concepts in a meaningful way, particularly for length and weight, while studies on volume measurement remain limited but show promising results through the use of manipulatives. Therefore, the integration of concrete media in mathematics instruction is strongly recommended to enhance the effectiveness of measurement learning in elementary schools. Abstract

Data processing is an essential topic in elementary school mathematics learning because it plays an important role in developing students’ statistical literacy, logical thinking, and data-based decision-making skills. However, various studies indicate that elementary school students still experience difficulties and misconceptions in understanding basic statistical concepts such as mean, median, and mode, as well as in interpreting data presented in tables and diagrams. This study aims to review and synthesize research findings related to the concept of data processing in elementary schools. The research employed a literature study method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data sources consisted of national and international journal articles relevant to data processing learning at the elementary school level, collected through academic databases and repositories. The data were analyzed using content analysis to identify patterns of learning difficulties, misconceptions, and effective instructional strategies. The results of the literature review show that students’ difficulties are influenced by weak conceptual understanding, procedural-oriented learning, and low learning engagement. Furthermore, contextual learning approaches, the use of instructional media, and student-centered learning models have been proven effective in improving students’ understanding of data processing concepts. This study concludes that meaningful, contextual, and concept-oriented instruction is crucial for enhancing elementary school students’ understanding of data processing and statistical literacy.
