Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership management of the school principal in developing educational facilities and infrastructure to improve the quality of education at SDN Pogar III Bangil. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal and teachers, direct observations of school facilities, and documentation analysis of school planning records. The findings indicate that the principal effectively performed managerial functions through participatory planning, systematic organization, gradual implementation of facility development, and continuous supervision. The improvement of educational facilities positively influenced learning comfort, student motivation, and the quality of the teaching and learning process. The main challenges encountered were limited funding and teachers’ technological competencies, which were addressed through collaboration with the school committee and internal training programs. The study concludes that effective principal leadership in managing school facilities and infrastructure plays a significant role in enhancing educational quality at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pendidikan karakter religius dan sosial di sekolah dasar memiliki urgensi tinggi dalam menghadapi degradasi nilai moral, intoleransi, dan rendahnya kepedulian sosial siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali dan mendeskripsikan strategi kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dalam menumbuhkan karakter religius dan sosial siswa di UPT Satuan Pendidikan SDN Dermo II Bangil. Pertanyaan utama yang diajukan adalah bagaimana kepala sekolah merancang, mengimplementasikan, dan mengevaluasi strategi tersebut dalam kultur sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, melibatkan kepala sekolah, guru, siswa, orang tua, dan dokumen sekolah sebagai sumber data. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, serta studi dokumentasi, dengan analisis data dan uji keabsahan melalui triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan kepala sekolah diwujudkan melalui lima strategi utama: keteladanan, pembiasaan, kolaborasi, penguatan budaya sekolah, serta pengawasan dan evaluasi. Strategi pembiasaan dan keteladanan menjadi pilar dominan dalam pembentukan karakter, sementara kolaborasi dan budaya sekolah memperkuat konsistensi nilai, dan evaluasi menjamin keberlanjutan program. Kesimpulan penelitian menegaskan bahwa kepemimpinan kepala sekolah yang mengintegrasikan nilai transformasional, spiritual, dan instruksional berkontribusi signifikan dalam menumbuhkan karakter religius dan sosial siswa. Temuan ini memiliki implikasi praktis bagi pengembangan strategi kepemimpinan pendidikan karakter yang kontekstual. Abstract : Religious and social character education in elementary schools is of high urgency in addressing the degradation of moral values, intolerance, and the lack of social concern among students. This study aims to explore and describe the principal’s leadership strategies in fostering students’ religious and social character at UPT Satuan Pendidikan SDN Dermo II Bangil. The central research question is how the principal designs, implements, and evaluates these strategies within the school culture. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, the study involved principals, teachers, students, parents, and school documents as data sources. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with data analysis and validity checks conducted through triangulation. The findings reveal that the principal’s leadership is manifested through five key strategies: role modeling, habituation, collaboration, strengthening school culture, as well as monitoring and evaluation. Habituation and role modeling serve as the dominant pillars in character formation, while collaboration and school culture reinforce value consistency, and evaluation ensures program sustainability. The study concludes that principal leadership integrating transformational, spiritual, and instructional values significantly contributes to the development of students’ religious and social character. These findings provide practical implications for the development of contextual leadership strategies in character education.
