Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the outdoor learning method in increasing the learning motivation of third-grade students at SD Negeri 54 Banda Aceh in the subject of IPAS (Integrated Science and Social Studies). The background of this study is the low level of students’ learning motivation caused by less engaging, monotonous, and unvaried teaching methods. The outdoor learning method is a teaching strategy conducted outside the classroom by utilizing the surrounding environment as a learning resource, allowing students to directly observe and interact with learning objects, particularly ecosystem materials. This research employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one-shot case study design involving third-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire and documentation. The instruments were tested for validity and reliability using SPSS version 25. The conceptual framework was based on the assumption that the outdoor method can overcome students’ boredom in classroom learning by creating a more flexible, enjoyable, and concrete learning experience. The results showed that the outdoor learning method was effective in increasing students’ learning motivation, as indicated by improvements in enthusiasm, participation, and students’ ability to understand the material. Supporting factors included easily accessible learning media, more enjoyable learning activities, and concrete learning resources that facilitated better comprehension of the material. This study contributes theoretically to the development of educational science and practically provides teachers with an alternative creative teaching method to improve the quality of IPAS learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

Bullying is a common problem in elementary schools that can negatively affect students’ development. This study aims to describe teachers’ strategies in overcoming bullying behavior in the fourth grade of SD Negeri 70 Banda Aceh. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. The participants included the classroom teacher, the principal, bullying perpetratos, victims, and witnesses. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that bullying in the fourth SD Negeri 70 Banda Aceh occurred in the form of verbal bullying, such as teasing and name-calling, and physical bullying, such as pushing and hitting. The result show that teachers addressed bullying by giving advice and warnings, instilling character values, applying personal approaches to students, and collaborating with the school and parents. These strategies helped recude bullying behavior and create a safe and comfortable learning environment.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the Natural and Social Science (IPAS) subject, particularly in the plant body parts material in Grade IV SDN 14 Banda Aceh. This was caused by the dominance of lecture-based teaching methods and the minimal use of engaging and interactive learning media, which led students to be passive and less actively involved in the learning process. This study aimed to determine the effect of using Pop Up Book media on student learning outcomes in IPAS plant body parts material in Grade IV SDN 14 Banda Aceh. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of 58 students divided into Grade IV A as the experimental class (29 students) and Grade IV B as the control class (29 students). Data were collected through written tests in the form of pretest and posttest. Data analysis used the Independent Samples T-Test after the Shapiro-Wilk normality test. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was 85.97, while the control class was 62.76. The Independent Samples T-Test showed a t-value of 9.585 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, so the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using Pop Up Book media on student learning outcomes in IPAS plant body parts material in Grade IV SDN 14 Banda Aceh
