Abstract

The problem that most often arises in various environmental issues is people's lack of concern for cleanliness, environmental care and conservation. This indifference originates from his perception when faced with this distressing situation. People who do not care will perceive that the situation is bad but can still be tolerated. Therefore the behavior is not to just leave the situation. However, when an individual perceives that the situation is extremely bad, he or she becomes stress. This unacceptable situation motivates him or her to cope it. When successful in coping stress, the individual is free from stress. On another occasion, if the individual finds a situation that is just as bad, he or she will repeat the behavior that was successful in overcoming the bad situation. On the other hand, when an individual feels unable to cope with stress, he will still feel stressed when faced with a similar bad situation. Stressful behavior may include getting angry, slamming things, setting fires, throwing bombs, and so on. It is hoped that this perception process can provide input for policy makers and stakeholders so that the bad situation facing society can be overcome.

Abstract

Hardiness is one of the factors that can support the psychological well-being of individuals, especially for adolescents who experience bullying. This study aims to empirically examine the relationship between hardiness and psychological well-being in victims of bullying at SMA X Klaten. The population in this study was 165 students, while the study subjects amounted to 60 students who were victims of bullying, selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out using two measuring tools, namely the Psychological Well-Being scale (α = 0.910) and the Hardiness scale (α = 0.785). The data was analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation technique. The results of the analysis showed a correlation coefficient value of rxy = 0.738 (p < 0.05) which indicated a positive and significant relationship between hardiness and psychological well-being. Thus, the higher the level of hardiness that an individual has, the higher the level of psychological well-being, and vice versa. These findings confirm that psychological well-being in bullying victims can improve if the victim is a resilient person. In addition, this study provides an overview that efforts to strengthen character and self-resilience through psychological interventions and school environment support can be an important strategy in helping bullying victims achieve better psychological well-being.

Abstract

Mental toughness is an essential psychological resource for helping Gen Z navigate academic, career, and interpersonal challenges. However, experiences of childhood maltreatment can impede the development of their adaptive capacity. Objective: This study examines the internal structure of the Mental Toughness scale, the effects of childhood maltreatment) and peer attachment on mental toughness, and the role of CM as a moderator in these relationships. Methods: This study involved 104 participants using purposive sampling (students of first year & in range of Gen-Z ages) and utilized validated measurement scales for mental toughness (α = 0.916), CM (α = 0.883), and PA (α = 0.907). Data were analysed using CFA and moderation analysis within a regression framework. Results: The CFA indicated that all indicators had significant factor loadings (p < 0.05); statistically, all items contributed to the 4C dimension of Mental Toughness construct. However, this model did not optimally represent the structural framework of mental toughness due to some indicators had low factor loadings. Although most Mental Toughness were found to be significant (R² = 0.173) to childhood maltreatment and peer attachment. CM was found to have a significant negative relationship mental toughness r = -0.416, whereas Peer Attachment had a significant positive relationship only with the Constancy dimension. Furthermore, childhood maltreatment significantly moderated the relationship between peer attachment and mental toughness. Research implication: Future researchers should consider running an Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) or integrate other critical psychological resources, such as emotional regulation, self-compassion, resilience, or family/community support systems.
