Abstract

Training programs are still seen as a common community service activity to be carried out. The measures of its effectiveness are not widely studied before the activity is carried out, as are the chances of success and sustainability. The training on operational management and financial governance conducted by the TTG Mechanical Engineering Team of Widya Gama University of Malang, was designed by studying the success factors of a training. This training is specifically aimed at supporting the process of developing partner businesses to open a coffee stall that moves following market movements. The understanding of the training participants has been measured well before the presentation of the material, especially regarding the theories and practical applications of the material presented. However, several aspects of the material related to the concept of a coffee stall that is not yet understood at all. The participants' understanding is still focused on the fixed stall model. The results of the training show that in order to be applied to support the process of operating a coffee stall that is Kelana, partners need to apply the theories taught in the training into a standardized operational system. This will be followed up in the next activity.

Abstract

A small business of bread and cakes has a technical problem which conventional oven that obtained from the public market does not match the needs. Oven has an important role in getting optimal product quality. One important operational parameter of the oven is temperature control. This article aims to describe the application of oven technology with LPG fuel. The application is done with an oven design according to the needs of the small businesses. Tangkring type oven has a relatively cheap price and easy operation and maintenance. On the other hand, there are weaknesses, namely small capacity, short service life, difficult temperature control and large heat losses. Oven modification is done to minimize these weaknesses. The oven wall is made with two-sided galvanized plates where the two plates are filled with glasswool as a heat insulating material so that the heat released through the oven wall is relatively small. Fire regulation is done with the opening of the fuel channel valve. The fuel pipe in the oven chamber uses a 3/8 inch diameter gas pipe which is given a fire pit with 1 mm in diameter. Fire setting is obtained with a fire height of ± 1.5 cm to get a temperature of 100-120oC. With this setting, the oven reaches a temperature of ± 100oC in about 3 minutes. The result shows that this application based on appropriate technology is very suitable for the needs of small businesses.

Abstract

The "Moro Mlaku" welding workshop carried out construction work on gate ornaments with 3.5 meters in high and 7.30 meters span. Frame construction with a long span size requires spesific design to obtain safe frame strength. This partner workshop does not have experience handling work like this. This community service activity aims to assist the aspects of the design and implementation of gate construction work in the welding workshop. Activities are carried out using design discussion and assistance methods, material selection, connection types, manufacturing processes as well as transportation and installation. The results of the activities provide positive benefits for partners, especially in terms of increasing knowledge and experience.

Abstract

A gate is a physical structure that serves as a marker for a region's identity. Its construction requires appropriate planning and funding. This community service activity aims to provide assistance in the construction of a gate in RT 05 RW 06, Candirenggo Village, Singosari District, Malang Regency. Assistance was provided for the design, drawings plan and budget plan in a proposal, as well as the gate construction process. Construction was funded by community funds and donations from the surrounding community. The assistance process is considered to provide positive benefits, particularly in the preparation of proposals that facilitate fundraising and the construction process.

Abstract

There are differing opinions regarding the effects of music on cardiac physiology, particularly in the context of physical activity. The concept of cardiorespiration, however, emphasizes the coupling between the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Within the framework of dance biomechanics—which focuses on the clinical therapeutic potential of dance—physical activity is consistently identified as the primary source of its positive effects. In this context, music represents one of the elements of dance—namely, sound, movement, and artistic expression. This study seeks to investigate the effects of music on the cardiorespiratory physiology of pencak silat athletes. Pencak silat is conceptualized as an activity that bridges the gap between sports and dance. The study was conducted on male and female pencak silat athletes who performed both with and without musical accompaniment. The measured variables were body temperature, heart rate, and oxygen saturation. The results indicate that music has a significant positive effect on increasing athletes’ body temperature and heart rate (p ≤ 0.05). Further analysis is needed to understand fluctuations in athletes’ body temperature during performance and to improve the validity of measurements, particularly for oxygen saturation.

Abstract

Background: Wood-based products are widely used for both indoor and outdoor applications due to their lightweight nature, high strength, affordability, and ease of processing. However, wood easily absorbs water and moisture through cell lumen capillary forces and cell wall micropores, compromising its moisture stability and limiting its potential as a sustainable material. Surface coating is commonly used to address this weakness, prompting this study to evaluate the hydrophobic (water-repellent) qualities of coating materials against water droplets. Method: An experimental laboratory approach was conducted to evaluate the hydrophobic characteristics of wood surfaces following coating applications. The assessment measured the water-repellent performance against water droplets across different coating material types and application thicknesses. Result: All evaluated coating materials successfully enhanced the hydrophobic characteristics of the wood surface. Furthermore, the resulting hydrophobicity was not significantly influenced by either the type or the thickness of the applied coating. Conclusion: Surface coatings effectively improve the water-repellent properties of wood regardless of coating type or thickness. Further research is recommended to investigate how wood hardness affects surface coating performance and its resulting hydrophobic properties.
