Abstract

The implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) has become an important element in improving healthcare service quality, efficiency, and patient safety in hospitals. However, the benefits of EMR depend not only on system availability but also on the quality of the information provided and how actively the system is used by healthcare professionals. This study aims to analyze the influence of electronic medical record content and perceived ease of use on the net benefits of EMR, with actual system use acting as an intervening variable. The research applied a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design conducted at RSM Hospital. The population consisted of all general practitioners and specialist doctors working at the hospital, totaling 51 respondents, and the study used a total sampling technique. Data were collected through structured questionnaires measured using a Likert scale and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. The results show that EMR content and perceived ease of use significantly influence the net benefits of EMR. Both variables also significantly affect the actual use of the system, while actual use significantly influences the benefits obtained. Furthermore, actual use mediates the relationship between EMR content, ease of use, and net benefits, indicating that better information quality and usability can encourage greater system utilization and maximize the advantages of EMR implementation.

Abstract

Background, the implementation of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) has become a crucial component in efforts to improve the quality of healthcare services in hospitals. The success of its implementation is not solely determined by technological factors but is also influenced by organizational readiness, the system’s ability to interoperate, and user support. Objective, this study aims to analyze the role of system interoperability and organizational control within the HOT-Fit Model framework to measure the level of success of EMR implementation at Mekar Sari Hospital. Methods, this study employed a quantitative research design with a cross sectional approach. Data analysis, the relationships among variables were examined using Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Population and sample, the population consisted of all employees of Mekar Sari Hospital working across various service units, with a total sampling technique involving 120 respondents. Results, the findings indicate that technological factors, including system quality, information quality, and service quality, have a significant effect on system use and user satisfaction. Interoperability enhances information accuracy through more precise and consistent cross unit data integration. Organizational factors, particularly the organizational environment and organizational control, have a significant influence on structure, thereby supporting more optimal utilization of the EMR information system. Conclusion, this study recommends interoperability should be enhanced through data integration, standardization, and user training. In addition, organizations need to improve coordination, update standard operating procedures, strengthen audits, and optimize net benefits through measurable performance evaluations.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the healthcare sector encourages hospitals to adopt Hospital Information Systems (HIS), known in Indonesia as SIMRS to improve service efficiency and data management quality. However, the success of SIMRS implementation is strongly influenced by system quality, information quality, service quality, and users’ perceptions of the technology. This study aims to evaluate the success factors of SIMRS at RSIJ Pondok Kopi by integrating Perceived Usefulness and demographic factors into the DeLone and McLean (D&M) Information System Success Model through user satisfaction. This research methode is a quantitative design with cross sectional study using the PLS-SEM approach. The sample consisted of 62 SIMRS users selected using a total sampling technique. The study was conducted from May to August 2025. The results show that information quality and system quality significantly affect perceived usefulness, perceived usefulness significantly affects user satisfaction, and user satisfaction significantly affects net benefits. In addition, perceived usefulness has a significant indirect effect on net benefits. Meanwhile, demographic factors are not the main determinants of SIMRS success. Therefore, hospital management is recommended to prioritize improving information quality to optimize the effectiveness of SIMRS implementation.
