Abstract

This study examines the practice of interfaith interaction between Hindu and Muslim communities in Seraya-Bukit Village, Karangasem Regency, with a focus on the participation of Muslim semeton in arranging offerings at Bhur Bwah Swah Temple. The study used a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with Jro Mangku I Made Kembar and I Gusti Ayu Mas Sumatri, conducted on January 7, 2026, and analyzed from the perspective of social theology and religious moderation. The results show that the arrangement of offerings by Muslim semeton in the month of Safar, coinciding with the third full moon, is interpreted as a cultural-religious expression of gratitude, not as an Islamic worship practice. This practice takes place while maintaining theological boundaries and respecting Hindu sacred space, and represents the value of menyama braya as a basis for social harmony. This study concludes that religious moderation in Seraya-Bukit Village exists as a social praxis rooted in Balinese local wisdom and supported by regional policies, thus enabling harmonious interfaith relations without blurring each person's religious identity.

Abstract

The discourse of religious moderation is important in Indonesia. The recent condition of the nation which is vulnerable to conflicts in the name of religion is the cause. Indonesia as a country with high diversity both in terms of religion, ethnicity and customs and race is allegedly vulnerable to division. Thus, the moderate path is the only way to ensure Indonesia's unity and unity. Descriptively this work tries to narrate forms of religious life which are full of tolerance, moderation and mutual respect at Kramat Ratu Mas Sakti Temple, Mengwi Badung. The unique thing that happens in this temple is that Hindu and Muslim communities carry out religious activities in the same place and simultaneously. They worship according to their beliefs but are in the same place. This condition makes them look after each other and respect each other. Harmonious life is a priority and a shared need, so they try to work together for it. This is a form that might be offered to the Indonesian people, namely if you want a life of moderation to go well, then the need for the importance of coexistence is highly recommended.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of time (kāla) and the transcendent self (ātman) within the framework of Brahma Vidyā through an analysis of classical Hindu texts, particularly the Manava Dharmasastra and Bhagavad Gītā, employing a qualitative approach based on library research and conceptual hermeneutics. The findings reveal that kāla is understood not merely as a chronological measure, but as a cosmic-theological principle that governs the order of the universe, the rhythms of life, and the fulfillment of dharma. In the Manusmṛti, time functions as a normative cosmic structure supporting ethical and social harmony, whereas in the Bhagavad Gītā, it is presented as a direct manifestation of divine power regulating the cycles of creation, preservation, and dissolution. In contrast, ātman is understood as an eternal, transcendent reality that surpasses temporality, thus the relationship between kāla and ātman exhibits a dialectic between phenomenal reality and absolute consciousness. This conceptual synthesis affirms that time serves as a pedagogical-spiritual medium guiding humanity toward true self-awareness and realization of unity with Brahman. Consequently, the understanding of time from the perspective of Brahma Vidyā holds philosophical, theological, and practical spiritual significance as a foundation for shaping a life aligned with dharma and oriented toward liberation.
