Abstract

Abstract: Stroke is the leading cause of disability, which in the long term can cause walking disorders, requiring stroke survivors to undergo physical therapy for recovery. The limited number of physical therapists and the length of the rehabilitation process often pose challenges in the implementation of conventional physical therapy. This community service activity aims to disseminate research products in the form of an ankle physical therapy robot, Picobot, at Dr. Soetomo Regional General Hospital to support walking physical therapy activities and increase the knowledge of health workers and patients regarding the use of robotic technology for physical therapy. Dr. Soetomo Regional General Hospital is a regional hospital under the auspices of the East Java provincial government that focuses on health services and the development of health science through research and community service collaborations with universities. This activity was attended by 1 medical rehabilitation doctor, 2 physiotherapists, 5 patients, and the general public. The implementation was divided into three stages, namely pre, core, and post-activity, where Picobot was disseminated through education and training and surveyed through questionnaires and interviews. The survey results show that Picobot is perceived as safe, easy to use, and useful for walking therapy. Respondents also reported a more enjoyable therapy experience with an improvement score of more than 60%. Picobot can be applied as a solution to support continuous physiotherapy, both in communities and health institutions in Indonesia, such as Dr. Soetomo General Hospital.
