Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a critical period of growth and development that requires optimal health services, including participation in the Adolescent Integrated Health Post (Posyandu Remaja). Family support plays an important role in encouraging adolescents to utilize health services. However, adolescent visits to Posyandu Remaja in the working area of the Sei Rahayu Community Health Center are still relatively low, indicating the need to examine factors influencing attendance, particularly family support. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family support and adolescent visits to the Adolescent Integrated Health Post (Posyandu Remaja) in the working area of the Sei Rahayu Community Health Center. Methods: This study employed a quantitative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 30 adolescents selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using structured questionnaires to assess family support and adolescent visit behavior. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a significant relationship between family support and adolescent visits to Posyandu Remaja, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Adolescents who received good family support were more likely to attend Posyandu Remaja regularly compared to those with low family support. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between family support and adolescent visits to the Adolescent Integrated Health Post (Posyandu Remaja) in the working area of the Sei Rahayu Community Health Center. Strengthening family involvement is essential to increase adolescent participation in Posyandu Remaja activities.

Abstract

Background: Complementary feeding (MPASI) plays an important role in supporting optimal growth and weight gain in infants after six months of age. Inappropriate eating patterns, including inadequate frequency, portion size, and food diversity, may lead to insufficient nutrient intake and suboptimal weight gain. In rural areas, improper MPASI practices remain a common problem and contribute to growth disturbances among infants. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between MPASI eating patterns and infant weight gain in Damuli Village, East Patani District, Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province. Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The sample consisted of 30 infants who met the inclusion criteria and were selected using total sampling. Infant body weight was measured before and after the implementation of appropriate MPASI eating patterns. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test to assess changes in infant weight gain. Results: The results showed a significant increase in infant weight after the implementation of appropriate MPASI eating patterns. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between MPASI eating patterns and infant weight gain. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between MPASI eating patterns and infant weight gain in Damuli Village, East Patani District, Central Halmahera Regency. Appropriate MPASI practices can positively influence infant growth and weight gain. Therefore, health workers are encouraged to strengthen education and counseling on proper MPASI feeding practices to support optimal infant growth.

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is a critical period requiring comprehensive knowledge of danger signs to prevent maternal and fetal complications. Health education during antenatal care is crucial in increasing pregnant women’s knowledge and awareness these danger signs. Previous studies in Indonesia have shown that structured antenatal education improves maternal knowledge, encourages timely health-seeking behavior, and reduces the risk maternal morbidity and mortality (Sari, 2020; Putri, 2021). Despite ongoing efforts, gaps in knowledge persist in many communities, including in the Galala work area, highlighting the need for targeted educational interventions. Objective: This study aims to examine the influence of antenatal health education on pregnant women’s knowledge of pregnancy danger signs in the Galala The intervention consisted of structured antenatal health education sessions covering common pregnancy danger signs, preventive measures, and the importance timely medical consultation. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to analyze differences knowledge levels before and after the intervention, with a significance level set at p < 0.05. Results: All 30 participants received the health education intervention. Post-intervention assessments showed a significant improvement in knowledge levels, with the Wilcoxon test yielding p-value of 0.000. This indicates that antenatal health education had statistically significant effect on enhancing pregnant women’s knowledge of danger signs during pregnancy. Conclusion: Antenatal health education effectively improves pregnant women’s knowledge of pregnancy danger signs. Structured and targeted educational interventions by health professionals, particularly during routine antenatal visits, can empower women to recognize early warning signs and take timely action, thereby contributing to better maternal and fetal health outcomes.
