Abstract

Character education remains a critical challenge in secondary education, particularly in efforts to develop human resources with strong moral integrity and civic responsibility. This study examines strategies for strengthening and developing character education at State Senior High School 15 Takengon under the guidance of Negeri Antara. Employing an applied research orientation, this field-based study adopts a qualitative approach to investigate real conditions and social phenomena related to character education as they naturally occur within the school environment. Data were collected through direct engagement with key educational stakeholders to explore strategic implementation, institutional roles, and practical challenges. The findings indicate that character education is systematically reinforced through the implementation of eighteen core character values embedded in the school’s vision and mission, which guide its educational goals and functions. Responsibility for character development involves collaborative efforts among the principal, vice principals, teachers of Islamic Religious Education and Civic Education, all subject teachers, and the Intra-School Student Organization. The study further reveals that no significant obstacles impede implementation, as existing challenges are constructively addressed through reflective and spiritual practices such as muhasabah and zikir. Overall, the study argues that a collaborative, value-based, and reflective institutional culture constitutes an effective strategy for strengthening character education in secondary education.

Abstract

This study examines the character values and forms of character education embedded in Sya’ir Tawar Sedenge within the Gayo community of Central Aceh Regency. It addresses how the poem embodies moral values and how these values are transmitted through cultural practices. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method using observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. Primary data were obtained from key informants of the Majelis Adat Gayo, including the Head of the Library Division and the Deputy Head II of the Customs Division. Data were analyzed through the processes of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings demonstrate that Sya’ir Tawar Sedenge conveys fundamental character values, including religiosity, honesty, responsibility, and mutual cooperation, while simultaneously reinforcing cultural identity and patriotism. The study further reveals that the poem functions as a moral and cultural guideline that has been transmitted across generations and is implemented through family education, formal schooling, and traditional ceremonies. The study concludes that Sya’ir Tawar Sedenge serves not only as a medium for preserving Gayo cultural heritage but also as an effective instrument for strengthening character education and fostering social cohesion in contemporary society.

Abstract

This service aims to strengthen the Aceh Pesisir Community Welfare Community (KMAP)'s role in education, economy, society, and politics in Central Aceh amid the assumption that the immigrant community seems exclusive. The KMAP community works a lot and contributes in various fields. This service uses PAR (Participatory Action Research) method stages: Initial mapping of community inclusivity, building communication and trust with the community, determining the agenda for social change, participatory mapping, formulating problems, developing movement strategies, determining stakeholders, and formulating the possibility of planned success, taking action for change. At this stage, actions were carried out with small community groups in the fields of education, economy, socio-religious, and politics to strengthen the understanding of the inclusivity of the Aceh Coastal Community Welfare (KMAP) community group in Central Aceh. Finally, the program must be monitored and evaluated for the actions taken. Hierarchically, this service is carried out by interviews as a service database, conducting FGDs to increase understanding of the inclusiveness of community roles, community mentoring, and evaluation. As a result, the assisted community has a knowledge and common perception of the inclusive role in community development in education, economy, social religion, and politics.
