Abstract

The development of education in the twenty-first century presents significant challenges to Christian Religious Education (CRE), particularly when learning processes become increasingly driven by academic performance and pragmatic outcomes, while the formation of faith and character is often overlooked. This article revisits the concept of Coram Deo living before the face of God as a theological framework that can guide pedagogical practice in CRE. This study employs a literature-review method by examining books and scholarly articles, particularly from the past five years, related to the Christian worldview, faith-learning integration, and spiritual formation. The data were analyzed thematically to identify major contributions, gaps, and possibilities for developing a pedagogical model. The findings indicate that Coram Deo does not merely emphasize individual spirituality; rather, it shapes how learners understand themselves, the world, and their vocation. CRE is therefore understood not simply as the transmission of religious knowledge, but as a process of faith formation that engages cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions in a holistic manner. This article proposes a Coram Deo Pedagogical Model that integrates the biblical narrative of Creation–Fall–Redemption–Restoration into instructional stages, and highlights collaboration among school, family, and church as a formative ecosystem.

Abstract

In many contexts, religious education practices stop at passive tolerance coexisting without meaningful dialogue thus failing to build just relationships in plural societies. This article aims to develop an approach to Christian Religious Education (CRE) that goes beyond transmissional models toward dialogical and transformative learning. This study employs a literature review with thematic and comparative analysis of theological, educational, and social science literature. Conceptual data were synthesized to formulate a learning framework relevant to pluralistic contexts. The findings show that integrating interculturality, theology that affirms human dignity, and ethical communication strengthens reflective and participatory faith formation. The article proposes the Mutual Transformation Framework, a model that places teachers and students in a process of reciprocal transformation through epistemological awareness, intercultural encounters, inclusive theological foundations, and reflective communication. This framework has the potential to deepen faith understanding, foster social sensitivity, and cultivate commitment to justice and peace. The study offers a conceptual contribution to the development of intercultural CRE and recommends further implementation studies in school and church settings.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has transformed education, including Christian Religious Education (CRE). However, technology integration in CRE often remains technical and lacks a clear theological foundation for faith formation. This study aims to analyze the integration of digital technology in CRE and develop a conceptual framework relevant to learning in the digital age. This study employs a qualitative approach using a critical literature review method through analysis and synthesis of relevant scholarly sources. The findings show that digital technology can enhance interactivity, accessibility, and creativity in learning, yet it also presents challenges such as distraction and superficial learning. As its main contribution, this study proposes a Faith-Centered Digital Learning Framework integrating digital tools, pedagogical design, and spiritual formation. The framework positions faith as the center of learning, ensuring technology supports spiritual transformation rather than merely information delivery.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of gamification in Christian Religious Education (CRE) and to propose a learning model that preserves spiritual values. The rapid development of digital technology has encouraged the adoption of more interactive learning approaches, including gamification. However, in the context of CRE, gamification presents several challenges, such as shallow spiritual reflection, overreliance on extrinsic motivation, and potential digital distractions. Furthermore, limited studies have explicitly integrated gamification with theological reflection in Christian education. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, drawing from national and international journals, books, and relevant academic publications. Data were analyzed through data reduction, thematic categorization, and concept synthesis. The findings indicate that gamification has significant potential to enhance student motivation and engagement.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of entrepreneurship in Christian education as a response to globalization, digital transformation, and changing socio-economic demands. While previous studies have often treated entrepreneurship as a secular approach and Christian education as a theological enterprise, this study seeks to bridge this gap through an integrative framework relevant to the Indonesian context. Using a qualitative approach through a critical integrative literature review, this study analyzes scholarly literature through thematic analysis to identify patterns of entrepreneurial practices in Christian education and synthesize a conceptual framework. The findings reveal five major entrepreneurial practices in Christian education: faith-based curriculum innovation, visionary leadership, diversified funding strategies, community empowerment, and digital technology integration. This study contributes to the discourse on faith-based edupreneurship by offering an integrative model that connects theological values, educational innovation, and social mission.

Abstract

The crisis of modern faith education is characterized by religious learning that tends to be cognitive, individualistic, and insufficiently transformative, causing faith education to lose its dimensions of spiritual formation and social responsibility. In this context, the Reformation thought of Huldrych Zwingli offers an important contribution to the reconstruction of the paradigm of Christian Religious Education (CRE). This article aims to analyze Zwingli’s Reformation theology, particularly regarding church–state relations and sacramental pedagogy, as well as its relevance to the renewal of contemporary faith education. This study employs a literature review method using a historical-theological literature review approach through an examination of Zwingli’s primary works and relevant secondary sources in the fields of Reformation theology and Christian education.
