Abstract

This research aims to explore how local culture is used as a resource in the implementation of Islamic Religious Education at Quran Savaty Elementary School. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, this study reveals that the integration of local culture such as regional Islamic art, local wisdom values (siri' na pacce, sipakatau, and pangngaderreng), and religious activities with local nuances significantly strengthen the effectiveness of Islamic religious education. Programs such as tahfidz 30 juz, tahsinul qira'ah and recitation, educational outings, character building, love of mosques from an early age, and extracurricular activities are designed with a culturally based contextual approach. The results of the study show that this strategy succeeds in fostering students' love for the Qur'an and Islamic values, while strengthening their identity, spirituality, and connection to the socio-cultural environment. This learning model shows that Islamic education can develop inclusively, creatively, and still maintain noble local values.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the values of Siri' Na Pacce as a paradigm of Islamic character education based on local culture in South Sulawesi. Siri' Na Pacce is a philosophy of life for the Bugis-Makassar community that contains moral, social, and spiritual values such as self-esteem (siri') and social concern (pacce). This study uses a qualitative approach with the library research method, exploring various cultural, Islamic, and character education literature. The analysis was conducted descriptively and analytically to explore the relevance between Siri' Na Pacce values and the principles of Islamic character education. The research findings indicate that Siri' aligns with the Islamic concepts of 'izzah (self-respect) and haya' (shame toward sin), while Pacce reflects the values of rahmah (compassion) and ukhuwah islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood). These two values have great potential to be integrated into the Islamic character education curriculum thru curriculum approaches, habituation, and role modelling. Case studies in several Islamic educational institutions in South Sulawesi show that applying the values of Siri' Na Pacce can strengthen the character development of students to be honest, responsible, and caring toward others. Thus, Siri' Na Pacce is not only a local cultural heritage, but also a paradigm of Islamic character education that is contextual and relevant in addressing the moral challenges of the younger generation in the era of globalization.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes in the educational landscape and religious practices, including in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). On the one hand, digitalization opens up opportunities to strengthen innovative and inclusive PAI learning, but on the other hand, it presents serious challenges in the form of the rapid flow of unverified religious information, the emergence of exclusive religious narratives, and the potential for the spread of intolerant and radical ideas in the digital space. This condition demands the strengthening of the value of religious moderation as a just, balanced, and tolerant principle of religion. This study aims to analyze the urgency of Islamic Religious Education management in strengthening the value of religious moderation in the digital era. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research, through a critical study of the Qur'an, Hadith, policies of the Ministry of Religion, as well as scientific literature related to Islamic education management, religious moderation, and digitization of learning. Data analysis was carried out with a thematic, descriptive-contextual, and content analysis approach. The results of the study show that the main challenges of PAI in the digital era are not only technological, but also ideological and managerial. Strengthening PAI management, which includes planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising learning, has proven to have a strategic role in integrating the value of religious moderation systematically and sustainably. Effective PAI management allows Islamic education to function as an ideological bulwark against digital intolerance and radicalism, as well as a means of forming a moderate, inclusive, and social-peace-oriented religious character.

Abstract

Multiethnic society is a social reality inseparable from the life of the Indonesian nation and demands an educational approach that is sensitive to diversity. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) has a strategic role in instilling moderate, inclusive, and socially harmonious Islamic values. However, the implementation of the PAI curriculum so far has tended to be normative-doctrinal and has not fully accommodated multicultural values systematically. This study aims to examine and conceptualize a model for implementing a multicultural Islamic Religious Education curriculum in a multiethnic society. The research uses a qualitative approach with a type of library research through analysis of books, scientific journal articles, and relevant educational policy documents. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques with stages of classification, reduction, interpretation, and conceptual synthesis. The results of the research show that the implementation of a multicultural PAI curriculum can be conceptualized through four main components, namely curriculum planning based on multicultural values, dialogical and participatory learning implementation, holistic evaluation including cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects, and strengthening an inclusive educational culture. This conceptual model affirms that the multicultural PAI curriculum functions as an instrument of character education and social transformation that is relevant in building tolerant, moderate, and civilized attitudes in the midst of a multiethnic society. This research is expected to be a theoretical reference for the development and implementation of a PAI curriculum that is responsive to socio-cultural diversity.
