Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between Self-Disclosure and loneliness in early adult women in ChatGPT-based counseling. The quantitative approach used the Spearman correlation technique through the SPSS 27.0 for Windows program to determine the relationship between variables. The subjects in this study were 200 early adult female respondents aged 18-25 years. The instruments in the study were the self-disclosure scale and the loneliness scale of the UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3. The correlation coefficient result of 0.374 (r = 0.374) indicates a sufficient and positive correlation level. Based on these results, the hypothesis is accepted and it is concluded that there is a relationship between self-disclosure and loneliness in early adult women in ChatGPT-based counseling.

Abstract

Most of the childfree research remains focused on Western contexts, so studies in collectivist and pronatalist societies, such as Indonesia, remain limited. This study aims to explore the experiences and life satisfaction of childfree individuals in Indonesia. This study seeks to expand the literature by examining how childfree individuals interpret life satisfaction amid social norms that emphasize the importance of having children. This study uses a phenomenological qualitative approach, conducting in-depth interviews with five participants and employing thematic analysis to uncover the life experiences of childfree individuals in Indonesia. The findings suggest that the decision not to have children affects participants' life satisfaction, and that the presence of children negatively affects their lives. The domains of life satisfaction identified in this study were relationships with partners, finances, and leisure time. Freedom in careers, hobbies, and activities contributes to participants' life satisfaction. These findings provide an alternative perspective on pronatal assumptions that link the existence of children to family happiness and offer implications for counseling practices when accompanying childfree individuals living in societies with strong pronatal values. Abstract

This study explores the complex emotional dynamics and grieving process experienced by a woman following an induced abortion, utilizing Kübler-Ross’s five-stage grief model (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance) as a theoretical framework. A qualitative narrative approach was employed, with data collected through an in-depth, semi-structured online interview with a 20-year-old participant who underwent an abortion at age 18. Non-participant observation of non-verbal cues supplemented the interview data. Thematic analysis was conducted to map the subject’s experiences onto the stages of grief. Findings confirm that the participant navigated all five stages of grief, though in a non-linear and highly individual sequence. The depression stage was notably prolonged, while the eventual movement toward acceptance was significantly facilitated by entering a new, supportive romantic relationship, which provided a crucial "safe space." The experience was compounded by feelings of isolation, stigmatization, and a lack of adequate social support from her partner at the time of the procedure. The study underscores that abortion, particularly under stressful conditions, constitutes a significant psychological loss that can trigger a profound grieving process. Recommendations include integrating psychosocial education into reproductive health programs and conducting further comparative research on the experiences following legal versus illegal procedures.
