Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the Maghrib Mengaji Program implemented by KKN Group 26 (10 members) in Pagaran Gala-Gala Village in enhancing Qur'anic literacy and fostering religious character. The research utilized a participatory qualitative method with a Case Study approach, where learning activities were conducted intensively at the KKN post after congregational prayers. The program employed the Mutsallasah Curriculum (BTQ, Tahfidz, and Fahmil Qur’an) with the key methodology of direct guidance (talaqqi) by KKN mentors. The findings indicate significant achievements: a marked improvement in participants' reading quality, particularly in Tajwid and Makharijul Huruf, facilitated by the optimal mentor-to-participant ratio. The program also successfully diverted the 'golden time' of Maghrib from non-productive activities (gadgets) to a positive routine, instilling spiritual discipline and responsibility. The program's success was sustained by a strong synergy between the KKN group and mosque officials, which revitalized the institutional role as a center for character education. To ensure sustainability, it is recommended to implement Teacher Regeneration through peer-tutor recruitment and to establish Local Regulations by the village government to make the Maghrib Mengaji Program a continuous and mandatory cultural practice.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out through the Field Experience Practice (PPL) of students from Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Negeri Mandailing Natal at the Community and Village Empowerment Agency (PMD), Mandailing Natal Regency, from January 12 to February 13, 2026. The community service aimed to support the strengthening of village governance and empowerment through administrative assistance, financial verification, and facilitation of participatory activities. The methods used were a participatory approach and field observation, including data collection on village development in Panyabungan Subdistrict, verification and validation of village treasurer financial data, management of administrative correspondence, and assistance in the preparation of village development documents. The activities were carried out collaboratively with PMD officials and village officials to ensure suitability with field needs. The results showed that the involvement of PPL students contributed to streamlining administrative processes, improving documentation order, and supporting the process of guidance and coordination between village actors. This activity also provided practical experience for students in understanding the dynamics of village governance firsthand. This community service emphasized the importance of synergy between universities and local governments in strengthening village capacity in a sustainable manner.
