Abstract

The relationship between Islam and politics has evolved across various historical periods, ranging from the classical, colonial, to post-colonial eras. During the colonial period, organizations such as Sarekat Islam, Muhammadiyah, and Nahdlatul Ulama in Indonesia formulated forms of resistance and socio-political reform grounded in Islamic principles. Meanwhile, Middle Eastern thinkers such as Jamal al-Din al-Afghani and Muhammad Abduh led reform movements that sought to harmonize Islamic values with the demands of modernity. This study aims to understand the complex relationship between Islam and politics through a holistic and transdisciplinary approach. In the context of globalization, modern values such as democracy and human rights often interact with Islamic principles, creating the need for deeper dialogue. This research employs a qualitative approach and literature study, utilizing relevant scholarly sources to establish a strong theoretical foundation. The findings indicate that political understanding in Islam encompasses not only structures of power but also ethical and moral values that function to achieve justice and the common good. A transdisciplinary approach enables the integration of various fields of study—including sociology, theology, and political science—to generate a more comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of Islam–politics relations. This study also highlights the importance of social and cultural contexts in the application of Islamic principles within the political sphere, as well as the challenges of reconciling traditional values with modern demands. Thus, this research contributes to the reconstruction of Islamic political thought that is adaptive and inclusive, capable of accommodating contemporary changes without compromising the essential teachings of Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the fundamental framework of Islamic teachings, with a particular focus on the concept of Shariah and its integral role in the lives of Muslims. The research employs a qualitative library review method, drawing upon various Islamic texts and scholarly interpretations. The main findings indicate that Shariah constitutes a comprehensive set of divine laws ordained by Allah to guide human beings in their relationships with God, fellow humans, and the natural environment. A proper understanding and implementation of Shariah are essential for Muslims to live in accordance with Islamic principles. The study further highlights that inadequate understanding of Shariah may lead to moral and spiritual decline, as individuals may misinterpret or neglect its teachings. This study concludes by emphasizing the importance of integrating Shariah into daily life to ensure spiritual and moral well-being in line with Islamic values. The implications suggest that disseminating accurate knowledge of Shariah is crucial to prevent disorientation in religious and social practices among Muslims. It also underscores the need for improved educational programs on Shariah principles. The originality of this research lies in its comprehensive emphasis on Shariah as a fundamental pillar that not only governs acts of worship but also shapes all dimensions of Muslim life, including social interactions and environmental ethics, while identifying the potential negative impacts arising from its misinterpretation or lack of understanding.

Abstract

Food security has become a crucial issue in global economic development, including in Indonesia, where it is closely linked to the productivity of the agricultural sector. This sector plays a strategic role not only as a food provider but also as a source of employment, a contributor to national income, and a means of income distribution. Data indicate that the agricultural sector still absorbs around 29% of the national workforce despite a structural shift toward the industrial and service sectors. The high consumption of staple foods such as rice and eggs highlights the strong dependence of society on agricultural outputs, making national economic stability closely tied to this sector. However, the agricultural sector faces several challenges, including land conversion, low productivity, and dependence on food imports. Therefore, strategic policies are required to enhance productivity, promote technological innovation, and improve farmers’ welfare in order to strengthen national food security.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of the global economy requires each country to establish an economic system that is stable, equitable, and sustainable. Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, has significant potential to develop Islamic economics as a driving force of its national economy. Islamic economics is based on the teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith, aiming to achieve comprehensive societal welfare through the principles of justice, balance, and equitable wealth distribution. Instruments such as zakat, waqf, and the prohibition of wealth hoarding play an important role in reducing social inequality, supported by the growth of the halal industry, Islamic finance, Islamic capital markets, and Sharia-based microenterprises. However, its implementation still faces challenges, including low public literacy, suboptimal regulation, and uneven infrastructure readiness. Therefore, comprehensive strategies are needed to optimize the role of Islamic economics in strengthening national economic stability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic banking in encouraging financial inclusion in Indonesia. Financial inclusion is the main focus of economic development programs, with the aim of providing broader and more equitable financial access for all levels of society. This study is motivated by the still limited level of financial inclusion in Indonesia, especially for people who have not been served by formal financial institutions. The purpose of this study is to identify the contribution of Islamic banks in expanding financial access and to understand the obstacles and opportunities faced. This study uses a qualitative approach with secondary data analysis, including Islamic bank financial reports, data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and related literature reviews. This study also uses a qualitative approach to gather in depth insights on this topic. Qualitative data were analyzed using Strauss and Corbin’s grounded theory, which involved three main steps: open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The main findings indicate that Islamic banks have a strategic role in increasing financial inclusion through inclusive Sharia-based products, such as microfinance, interest-free savings, and technology-based digital services. The implication is that improving Islamic financial education and developing digital technology are needed to expand the reach of services. In conclusion, Islamic banks play an important role in supporting financial inclusion by providing financial access to underserved communities. Better collaboration, regulatory support, and development of Sharia-compliant financial products can expand financial inclusion.
