Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan petani milenial melalui pelatihan teknologi irigasi sederhana dan pengelolaan pupuk organik guna mendukung praktik konservasi pertanian berkelanjutan. Mitra sebagai peserta dalam kegiatan ini adalah Angkatan Muda Muhammadiyah Kota Parepare. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui metode pelatihan dan pendampingan teknik budidaya, khususnya penerapan teknologi irigasi sederhana dan pengolahan pupuk organik sebagai upaya konservasi pertanian berkelanjutan. Evaluasi efektivitas pelatihan dilakukan melalui metode pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta tentang konsep dasar pupuk organik, teknik konservasi air, serta efisiensi penggunaan air melalui teknologi irigasi sederhana. Berdasarkan hasil pre-test, diketahui bahwa pengetahuan awal peserta masih terbatas, antara lain hanya 66,7% peserta memahami tujuan utama konservasi air, 55,6% memahami sistem irigasi tetes, dan 88,9% mengetahui jenis-jenis pupuk organik, namun belum sepenuhnya memahami pengelolaannya secara praktis. Setelah mengikuti pelatihan, hasil post-test menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan terhadap pemahaman peserta, seperti 100% peserta mampu memahami manfaat pupuk organik dalam meningkatkan kesuburan tanah, 100% peserta mampu mengidentifikasi langkah perawatan sistem irigasi sederhana, serta peningkatan pemahaman tentang teknik mulsa sebesar 62,5%. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kapasitas dan kompetensi petani milenial, khususnya Angkatan Muda Muhammadiyah Kota Parepare, dalam menerapkan praktik pertanian berkelanjutan yang ramah lingkungan serta hemat sumber daya.

Abstract

The continuous conversion of agricultural land into non-agricultural uses in Parepare City has substantially reduced productive farmland and generated various socio-economic impacts on local communities. This phenomenon is a critical issue as it threatens local food security, alters employment structures, and affects household welfare, particularly among farmers. This study aims to: (1) analyze land-use changes resulting from agricultural land conversion, (2) identify the economic impacts arising from the conversion, (3) examine its effects on the community’s economic structure, and (4) explain the social consequences that emerge as a result of these changes. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, supported by Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) to map the relationships and levels of influence among the affected socio-economic factors. The findings indicate that the most influential factors driving socio-economic change are access to infrastructure, natural resources, and education. Economically, land conversion has led to shifts in livelihoods, changes in income levels, and a decline in household purchasing power among farmers. Socially, community cooperation has weakened, and changes in social structures have become evident. In conclusion, agricultural land conversion has significant implications for the socio-economic conditions of communities in Parepare City. This study highlights the need for sustainable spatial planning policies, improved non-agricultural skills development, and strengthened economic and educational literacy to support community adaptation to ongoing land-use changes. Abstract

Vines (lianas) are a type of biological resource used by communities as traditional herbal medicine. This study aimed to identify the types of vines used as herbal medicine by the people of Enrekang Regency, the parts of the plants used, the methods of processing, and the types of illnesses treated. The study employed a descriptive-exploratory method with a qualitative approach through field surveys, ethnobotanical interviews, participatory observation, and visual documentation. A total of six informants were selected using purposive sampling, consisting of sanro, community leaders, farmers, and residents with knowledge of medicinal plants. The results showed that 12 species of climbing plants are used as herbal medicines, namely Momordica charantia, Tinospora crispa, Cucumis sativus, Centella asiatica, Anredera cordifolia, Passiflora foetida, Piper nigrum, Piper ornatum, Abrus precatorius, Piper betle, Sechium edule, and Clitoria ternatea. The most commonly used plant parts are the leaves and fruits, while the predominant processing methods are boiling and direct use. Use Value (UV) analysis shows that Piper ornatum has the highest use value (UV=2.00), indicating the highest level of use by the community. Knowledge regarding the use of medicinal plants has been passed down from generation to generation and is still preserved as part of the community’s local wisdom.
