Abstract

This study aims to examine the theories of human resource development (HRD) in Islamic education and to identify the modern challenges it faces. Employing a qualitative approach and utilizing the method of library research, the findings of this study highlight that HRD in Islamic education is a form of human investment—a strategic process aimed at shaping Muslim individuals who are intellectually, morally, and spiritually competent. The study explores various theoretical concepts and discusses learning outcomes across three essential domains: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. Islamic education is not solely focused on academic achievement; it also emphasizes the holistic development of human potential, including the intellect (‘aql), heart (qalb), soul (ruh), self (nafs), and natural disposition (fitrah). The study also identifies a range of modern challenges—both internal and external—faced by Islamic education today, including advances in science and technology, democratization, moral decline, educational inequality, modernization and secularization, and multiculturalism.

Abstract

This study examines the hadith regarding the virtues of the learned, narrated by Imam Abu Daud, no. 3157, in Maktabah Baitul Afkar Ad-Dauliah. The study aims to understand the essence of the virtues of the learned from an Islamic perspective and to analyze the quality of the hadith’s isnad and matn. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review methodology. Primary data sources consist of hadith collections and literature related to knowledge and the virtues of scholars, while secondary data sources were obtained from books, journals, and other scholarly references. Data collection techniques involved documentation and observation of various literary sources. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, as well as verification and drawing conclusions. The research findings indicate that knowledge holds a very important position in Islam as it serves as a means to attain salvation, happiness, and the nobility of life in this world and the hereafter. Those who possess knowledge attain a high status in the sight of Allah SWT, as explained in Surah Al-Mujadalah, verse 11, which states that Allah will elevate the status of those who believe and possess knowledge. A hadith narrated by Imam Abu Daud, number 3157, explains that seekers of knowledge will have their path to Paradise made easier; the angels will be pleased with them and pray for them; all creatures in the heavens and on earth will ask for forgiveness for them; and scholars are the heirs of the prophets. Based on an analysis of the chain of transmission (sanad), this hadith has a continuous (muttasil) chain, and the majority of its narrators are deemed trustworthy (tsiqah) by hadith scholars. Meanwhile, an analysis of the text (matan) indicates that the content of the hadith does not contradict the Qur’an, other authentic hadiths, sound reason, or historical facts; thus, no elements of oddity (syadz) or flaws (illat) are found. This hadith is also supported by other narrations from Imam Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, and Imam Darimi, which have different wording but convey the same meaning. Thus, the hadith narrated by Imam Abu Daud, number 3157, can be declared authentic in terms of both its chain of transmission and its text, and serves as an important foundation regarding the virtue of seeking and applying knowledge in life.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the impact of TikTok social media usage on the speaking ethics of ninth-grade students at MTs.S Gerpemi Tebas. The research focuses on three aspects: (1) how patterns of TikTok usage influence students’ speaking ethics, (2) the positive and negative impacts of TikTok on students’ speaking behavior, and (3) the preventive and educational measures taken by teachers to address the effects of TikTok on students’ speaking ethics. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings reveal that students use TikTok for approximately 8–12 hours per day, which significantly exceeds the ideal daily screen time of 4 hours and 17 minutes suggested by the University of Oxford. Students’ active engagement on the platform is reflected in the large number of followers they have, ranging from hundreds to thousands, as well as their frequent involvement in creating and consuming content. These usage patterns have influenced their communication habits and speaking styles in both school and social environments. The study also found that TikTok has both positive and negative effects on students’ speaking ethics. The positive impacts include increased creativity, greater self-confidence, enhanced communication skills, and broader knowledge gained from educational content. However, negative effects were also identified, including a decline in politeness, the use of inappropriate or harsh language, reduced concentration on academic activities, procrastination in completing school assignments, and social media addiction. These negative consequences have the potential to affect students’ academic performance and interpersonal relationships. To minimize these adverse effects, teachers, particularly Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, have implemented several preventive and educational strategies. These efforts include collaborating with parents to monitor students’ social media activities, conducting regular mobile phone inspections at school, and providing guidance on proper speaking ethics based on Islamic values and teachings. Furthermore, when students consistently display inappropriate speaking behavior, parents are invited to participate in counseling and guidance sessions. These measures are intended to encourage responsible social media use, strengthen students’ awareness of ethical communication, and reduce the negative influence of TikTok on their daily lives.
