Abstract

The rapid flow of modernity, marked by technological disruption, shifting moral values, and secularism in education, poses a crucial challenge to the existence of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in Indonesia. The PAI curriculum is often considered too cognitive-textually oriented and insufficiently adaptive to dynamic social realities. This research aims to reconstruct the main components of the PAI curriculum and evaluate relevant development models to address the challenges of the times. This research uses a qualitative approach using library research. Data are analyzed descriptively and analytically using hermeneutical techniques to examine classical and contemporary curriculum concepts. The reconstruction focuses on four main components: (1) Objectives, which must transform from merely theological understanding to the formation of prophetic awareness and life skills; (2) Materials, which interconnectively integrate science and religion; (3) Methods, which adopt a digital-based, student-centered learning approach; and (4) Evaluation, which emphasizes authentic and moral aspects holistically. The study's findings indicate that the centralized (top-down) Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum development model needs to shift toward a more participatory and grassroots-based model to simultaneously accommodate local and global needs. This reconstruction has resulted in a proposed "Humanist-Theocentric" Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum model, in which transcendental values remain the primary foundation, yet are articulated rationally and functionally to address modern challenges such as identity crises, radicalism, and moral degradation. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of developing a flexible curriculum that adheres firmly to the fundamental values of religion, enabling PAI to serve as a moral compass amidst the complexities of modern civilization.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has significantly transformed education, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI). However, the adoption of technology in PAI often lacks a strong philosophical foundation, which may lead to the erosion of spiritual and ethical values. Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, a moderate contemporary scholar (wasathiyah), offers a philosophical perspective that balances technological advancement with spiritual integrity. This study aims to examine Al-Qaradawi’s philosophy of technology and its relevance as an axiological and epistemological foundation for developing contemporary PAI learning media. This research employs a qualitative library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Primary data are derived from Al-Qaradawi’s works, while data analysis uses content analysis to identify key principles of technology in Islamic thought. The findings reveal that Al-Qaradawi’s philosophy is rooted in the concept of tashkhir, where technology serves as a means to achieve maslahah and devotion to God. Its relevance to PAI learning media includes three aspects: integrative (combining faith and digital literacy), ethical (guided by moral awareness), and adaptive (utilizing modern technologies such as AI and VR within Islamic principles). Therefore, technology in PAI should function not only as a tool but also as a medium to strengthen religious understanding and values.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept, objectives, criteria, and steps of learning media evaluation within the context of developing Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning technology. The method used is library research with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data sources consist of primary and secondary literature, including books, journal articles, and relevant academic documents, particularly the works of Richard E. Mayer (Multimedia Learning), Azhar Arsyad (Learning Media), Daniel Stufflebeam (CIPP model), and Benjamin S. Bloom (taxonomy of educational objectives). Data collection techniques employed documentation, while data analysis used content analysis. The findings show that the evaluation of PAI learning media is a systematic process to assess the feasibility, effectiveness, and suitability of media with the goals of Islamic education. The evaluation must cover four main aspects: material aspects (accuracy of scriptural evidence, curriculum alignment), technical aspects (display, user-friendliness), pedagogical aspects (interactivity, critical thinking), and Islamic value aspects (morals, sharia). The evaluation steps include: (1) determining evaluation objectives, (2) developing instruments, (3) conducting trials, (4) collecting response data, and (5) analyzing results and making continuous improvements. In conclusion, the evaluation of PAI learning media is an integral part of developing learning technology that is not only innovative but also meaningful and transformative, balancing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor achievements.
