<![CDATA[This experimental research aimed to know the effect of the contextual approach towards student's mathematical problem solving ability and belief. This research used post-test only control group design.The population of this research was all grade 8th students of SMPN 2 Sekampung in the academic year of 2013/2014. By purposive random sampling technique, it was chosen VIII.2 and VIII.3 class as research samples. The research data were obtained by test of mathematical problem solving ability and belief scale. This research concluded that the contextual approach affects towards students mathematical problem solving ability and belief.Penelitian eksperimen ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan kontekstual terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan belief siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan post-test only control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Sekampung tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Melalui teknik purposive random sampling terpilihlah kelas VIII.2 dan VIII.3 sebagai sampel penelitian. Data penelitian diperoleh dari tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan skala belief. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan kontekstual berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan belief siswa.Kata kunci: belief, kemampuan pemecahan masalah, pendekatan kontekstual]]>
